Yangtze river economic belt across China east,central and west regions,covering Jiangsu,Zhejiang,Anhui and other 11 provinces(cities),is the central focus of the "three strategies",the Yangtze river economic belt is also an important pig breeding base,the national pig breeding development,in promoting the rural revitalization,rural labor employment,increasing farmers’ income,coordinated development of agricultural areas plays an important role.While the rapid development of pig breeding industry,it has also brought many problems and challenges.First,the cost of pig breeding increases year by year,and the breeding income is unstable,which affects the enthusiasm of pig farmers.Second,pig breeding has caused the problem of agricultural non-point source pollution in the Yangtze River Economic Belt and damaged the ecological environment.Therefore,it is of great significance to change the extensive breeding mode of "high energy consumption,high pollution and high emission" and discuss how to improve the green total factor productivity of pig breeding to realize the "win-win" of high-quality development of pig industry and environmental protection.Based on the panel data of all provinces and cities along the Yangtze River Economic Belt in 2004-2019,this paper makes a descriptive analysis of the free-range,small,medium and large-scale pig breeding status,input cost and pollution situation in the Yangtze River Economic Belt.Based on DDF-GML index,the green total factor productivity of pig breeding in free-range,small,medium and large-scale breeding methods in the Yangtze River Economic Belt is calculated,and the growth of green total factor productivity and its source are analyzed from two dimensions of spatial characteristics and time series characteristics.And adopt panel FGLS estimation model,select the rural economic development level,urbanization,rural infrastructure,rural human capital,government support,agricultural environment regulation,economic structure,rural population aging eight factors on the Yangtze river economic belt,small,medium and large-scale pig breeding green total factor productivity regression analysis,explore what factors of green total factor productivity.This paper mainly draws the following conclusions:(1)the scale process of pig breeding industry in the Yangtze River economic belt is accelerated,and the manure emissions continue to grow.The farms(households)with small annual output are gradually decreasing,the farms(households)with large annual output are increasing,the pollutant emission of small,medium and large-scale pig breeding is increasing with time,the emission of small,large and medium scale is decreasing,and the medium scale pollutant emission is the least.(2)There are differences in the green total factor productivity and growth sources of pig breeding in various regions and scales of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.The green total factor productivity of free-range breeding is declining,while the small,medium and large-scale green total factor productivity is rising.Technological progress and technological efficiency inhibit the growth of free-range green total factor productivity,but promote the improvement of small-scale and medium-scale green total factor productivity,and technological progress promote the improvement of large-scale green total factor productivity.(3)The factors affecting the green total factor productivity of pig breeding in the Yangtze River Economic Belt are differentiated.The degree of urbanization and government support have a positive impact on green total factor productivity.Under the free range mode,the degree of urbanization and the green total factor productivity of pigs increase Long has positive effects,Rural infrastructure has a negative impact on it;In a small-scale manner,The degree of urbanization and the government support have promoted the improvement of the green total factor productivity of live pigs,The income level of rural residents,rural human capital and the aging of rural population have a negative impact on them;In the medium-scale mode,The degree of urbanization,rural human capital and government support have obvious effects in promoting the green total factor productivity of pig breeding,Rural residents’ income level,rural infrastructure and agricultural environment regulation have an inhibitory effect;On a large scale,Government support,economic structure and the aging of the rural population to promote the green total factor productivity of pig breeding,Rural human capital has a negative effect on it.Based on the research conclusion of this paper,the following suggestions are put forward:(1)build the support policy system for the resource utilization of breeding manure,and promote the innovation of the resource utilization technology.(2)Increase the promotion and support of innovative large-scale pig breeding technologies.(3)Clarify the advantageous scale of pig breeding and optimize the spatial layout of breeding.(4)Different breeding methods should adopt differentiated measures to improve the green total factor productivity.
