With the rapid economic development in the Yangtze River Delta region,a large amount of resources have been consumed, resulting in serious environmental pollution problems. To meet the requirements of green development, the Yangtze River Delta region needs to accelerate the transformation of its economic development mode.Green Total Factor Productivity(GTFP)considers both environmental and resource factors, and is a comprehensive indicator for measuring economic development, pollution emissions, resource consumption, and other factors.Studying green total factor productivity in the Yangtze River Delta can provide a theoretical basis for improving the level of regional green development. This thesis uses the SBM directional distance function and GML index to measure and decompose the GTFP in the Yangtze River Delta region, and uses the aggregated qualitative comparative analysis(QCA)and multi-period QCA methods to analyze the influencing factors of the GTFP in the Yangtze River Delta region. The empirical results show that:(1)The overall situation of GTFP development in the Yangtze River Delta region of China is improving, but the growth is slow.GTFP growth is mainly driven by technological progress, and the deterioration of technological efficiency has a hindering effect;(2)Among the "three provinces and Shanghai",the GTFP of Jiangsu Province,Zhejiang Province, and Shanghai City shows a growth trend, while Anhui Province shows a downward trend; The technological progress of "three provinces and Shanghai " has shown a growth trend;Shanghai’s technological efficiency is relatively stable, while the other three provinces show a downward trend. In terms of time, the GTFP in the Yangtze River Delta region showed a fluctuating upward trend from 2004 to 2019,with technological progress basically synchronized with GTFP,and technological efficiency showing a downward trend in most years. From a spatial perspective, the overall growth rate in the Yangtze River Delta region has slowed down, the urban growth gap has narrowed, and the growth of urban technological efficiency has gathered from a relatively balanced direction to the southeast;(3)The aggregated QCA analysis results show that there are six ways to improve GTFP,and economic development and technological innovation jointly promote the growth of GTFP in the Yangtze River Delta region;(4)The multi-period QCA analysis results show that there are 2,8,5,and 5 paths to improve GTFP in four periods.By comparing the changes in influencing factors in different periods,it is found that the contribution of economic development and technological progress is more prominent over time, the contribution of trade openness to GTFP is gradually weakening, and the contribution of human capital is steadily declining over time,The contribution of industrial structure and energy structure optimization and upgrading to GTFP is growing slowly.Low government intervention is of great significance to GTFP,and the role of environmental regulation on GTFP needs to depend on the specific situation.Countermeasures and suggestions: The Yangtze River Delta region needs to optimize its foreign trade structure and enhance the contribution of trade openness to GTFP;Accelerate the transformation of the mode of economic development and promote the optimization and upgrading of the industrial structure;Accelerate the transformation of energy structure, develop and utilize clean energy;Strengthen talent cultivation, increase R&D investment, and enhance the contribution of human capital to GTFP;Improve the environmental regulation system and utilize market-oriented regulatory measures.
