The high-speed economic growth of China has been in the spotlight, but the economic development of China has been extensive,in other words, economic development of China comes at the cost of environmental pollution and resource waste. In this era,the concept of green development has been deeply rooted in people’s hearts. How to promote the green transformation of China’s economy has become an urgent problem which have to be solved. As one of the three major economic strategies, the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt should play a pioneering role in promoting high-quality economic development and upgrading and optimizing the industrial structure. As an important force promoting the economic development of our country, the Foreign Direct Investment(FDI)carrys a big weight in the economic transition. Therefore, this thesis introduces green total factor productivity(GTFP),a green economic indicator,to measure the development level of green economy of China. This thesis also explores the relationship between foreign direct investment and green total factor productivity in 11 provinces surrounding the Yangtze River Economic Belt.In this thesis, measure the green total factor productivity of the 11 provinces surrounding the Yangtze River Economic Belt between 2010 and 2020 by means of constructing the input-output index system and adopting the super efficiency SBM-Malmquist model.Taking advantage of the measure value of green total factor productivity,we can compare the differences of green total factor productivity in 11 provinces, perform the descriptive statistical analysis and generate corresponding spatial and temporal distribution maps. Then the bidirectional fixed effect model is used to further analyze the mechanism and direction of various influencing factors on green total factor productivity. The main research conclusions of thesis are as follows: The deviation rate of green total factor productivity is in a decreasing trend in the period of 2011 to 2020.The high-efficiency area of green total factor productivity has been transferred from the central region to the eastern and western regions. The level of green development among provinces and cities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt region is extremely unbalanced.Within each province, the degree of economic cooperation needs to be improved, and the industrial structure needs to be upgraded and optimized. The green total factor productivity indicators of the 11 provinces surrounding the Yangtze River Economic Belt have strong regional differences and uncoordinated development: The fluctuation range of the central region is huge, and in a long-term low state; On the contrary, the green total factor productivity of eastern and western regions is in a relatively balanced state.Technological progress is the main cause of total factor productivity growth, but technical efficiency has a restraining effect on green total factor productivity.Industrial structure, foreign direct investment, environmental regulation and so on have a significant promoting effect on the growth of green total factor productivity.
