In recent years,the digital economy has gradually evolved into a rich and diversified economic form,driving the sustainable development of China’s economy from many aspects,and is now in a new stage of accelerating the shift to deepening application,standardized development,inclusive sharing,and constantly cultivating new momentum for the high-quality development of China’s economy,behind which is the deep integration of digital technology and the real economy,through the continuous birth of new industries,new formats and new models,promote the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries,and help deepen supply-side structural reform.Achieve a smooth transition of economic growth mode and high-quality economic development.Therefore,in order to deeply understand the current development of the digital economy and understand the current situation of high-quality economic development,this paper discusses the impact of the digital economy on high-quality economic development and its possible role channels from the perspective of carbon emission reduction,and provides an important policy reference for formulating more reasonable policies for the development of the digital economy and improving relevant policies for carbon emission reduction to promote high-quality economic development.Based on the above background,this paper determines the basic research methods and ideas,and then conducts literature combing,including the connotation and measurement of digital economy and high-quality economic development,as well as the current empirical research related to it,and the theoretical and empirical research results of digital economy affecting high-quality economic development.Combined with relevant literature,this paper focuses on analyzing the theoretical mechanism of digital economy to promote high-quality economic development,discusses the possibility of carbon emission reduction as an important channel,and further discusses the nonlinear characteristics of digital economy affecting high-quality economic development.Based on the 14 th Five-Year Plan for the Development of the Digital Economy,the Outline of the 14 th Five-Year Plan and the existing theoretical achievements,this paper reconstructs the comprehensive index evaluation system of digital economy and high-quality economic development,uses the entropy method to measure the level of digital economy development and high-quality economic development in 31 provinces in China from 2011 to 2020,and reinterprets the temporal characteristics and spatial differences of digital economy and high-quality economic development between eastern China,central and western regions and provinces.Through rigorous research design,this paper further uses the double fixed effect model,mediation effect model and panel threshold model to empirically study the direct impact effect of digital economy on promoting high-quality economic development,carbon emission reduction as an indirect action channel and direct effect,and a series of robustness tests are carried out on the benchmark regression results.The conclusions of this paper are as follows: First,the digital economy can directly promote the highquality development of the economy,and this driving effect shows obvious regional heterogeneity,the promotion effect in the eastern region is positive and significant,and the central and western regions are positive but not significant.Second,the digital economy can significantly improve carbon emission intensity to promote high-quality economic development,and carbon emission reduction is an important channel.Third,the positive driving effect of digital economy on high-quality economic development shows increasing nonlinear characteristics with the enhancement of the development level of digital economy,and industrial structure,technological innovation and human capital as threshold variables play a certain role in regulating this nonlinear feature.Based on the above research conclusions and related theories,this paper finally puts forward several targeted policy suggestions,in order to provide a certain policy designation basis for relevant departments and provide useful supplements to the existing literature.
