Under the demands of the transformation and reconstruction of rural settlements, the related research on the spatial structure of rural settlements has become a popular issue.Among them, scientifically constructing the pedigree of village and town system and exploring the impact of the spatial structure of rural settlements on rural vitality can assist experts to refine rural revitalization policies more scientifically and efficiently. However, due to the short research history of rural settlements, the relevant methodology and technology are not yet well-developed.The data source suitable for constructing the pedigree of village and town system is relatively single, feature extraction dimension is limited, and type pedigree lacks universality. Moreover, there is no unified standard of research perspective to explore the impact of rural settlements spatial structure on rural vitality, and empirical studies from the perspective of spatial spillover are lacking. This thesis includes two aspects of work: a)Explore the identification method of village and town system, carry out feature quantification and pedigree construction.b)Explore the impact of spatial structure of rural settlements on rural vitality from the perspective of spatial spillover by using exploratory spatial data analysis and spatial regression modeling. This thesis conducts a systematic study to construct pedigree.First,in order to identify the system,a combination of centrality method, weighted Thiessen Polygon and improved Gravity Model is constructed. After that,by acquiring POI data and road network data, this thesis overcomes the problem of single feature dimension.Furthermore, factor analysis method based on Promax rotation and the Fisher-Jenks algorithm are used for feature extraction and pedigree construction, respectively. As the result,a 3-dimensional pedigree structure is constructed, the reasonability of which is afterwards demonstrated by the combination of its structure, topography and transportation factors. This thesis further explores the impact of spatial structure of rural settlements on rural vitality.Firstly,by referring to the research results on urban vitality, this thesis measures the factors of rural settlements and rural vitality.Based on the factors, the study analyses the spatial autocorrelation of each attribute and the local spatial distribution pattern of rural vitality through Moran’s I and local Moran’s I.Furthermore, the Queen spatial weight matrix is improved by introducing the spatiotemporal distance, and the simplified village and town system is transformed into spatial weight matrix. Finally, this thesis discusses the difference of regression models and the impact of spatial structure of rural settlements on rural vitality by modeling regression models. In terms of model comparison, the spatial lag model has a better effect on reflecting the relationship between the two types of factors, and the spatial weight matrix of the spatio-temporal distance shows stronger applicability. From the perspective of spatial spillover,a further novel is finding that the density of bus stops, large patch aggregation and road network density promote rural vitality, while the mixed and uniform distribution of various land types inhibits rural vitality.
