Documentary images not only play the role of participants in the construction of collective memory,but also serve as one of the important carriers for other participants to construct collective memory.During the collective memory construction of COVID-19,station B,as one of the important video platforms in China,has produced many excellent documentary images,which not only increase the audience's understanding of the COVID-19 epidemic,but also jointly construct the collective memory of COVID-19 epidemic.In this paper,documentary images of COVID-19 in station B are taken as the research object,and text analysis,content analysis and case analysis are used comprehensively to discuss the contents,subjects and methods of collective memory constructed in documentary images of COVID-19,and suggestions and inspirations are put forward for problems arising in the construction.Through the research,the main conclusions are as follows:First,documentary images construct collective memories of the achievements of COVID-19,the unity of the people,the reflection on the lack of work and the trauma caused by the epidemic.In the process of constructing memories,there is always a core memory of national image and national unity.Second,different types of on-the-spot images construction play different roles in the audience's collective memory,news reports emphasize the bear the COVID-19 outbreak point,content,documentary to construct a more complete public COVID collective memory-19 outbreak,archives and talk shows on the supplement,webcast and emotional connection and a memorial service for the public recognition,Individual expressions enrich folk descriptions in the collective memory of COVID-19,and together they build a complete collective memory of COVID-19 for the audience.Thirdly,documentary images are faced with the problems of fragmentation,homogenization and limitations in official discourse in the process of constructing collective memory of COVID-19.They pay attention to the quality of works,humanistic care,and the interaction between the official and the individual.
