Research On International Conflict Reporting By Global Times ——Take The Changing Situation In Afghanistan As Example

The theme of the era that international conflicts seriously threaten peace and development has always been the focus of mass media attention.There is an inseparable connection between international conflicts and the mass media.Conflicts attract media coverage,and media reports on conflicts and exerts public opinion influence on them.Because of the factors at the national level,the media's coverage of international conflicts is different from ordinary news coverage,which involves not only safeguarding national interests,but also relate to help the public to correctly understand the challenges and opportunities of the world situation.Due to the limitation of objective conditions,in the early years,Chinese media relied heavily on Western media to report on international conflicts.In terms of news sources and news topics,many media unknowingly handed over the power of "news topic setting" to Western media,ignoring the importance of reporting China's position and perspective.After years of development,the current status of the dissemination of international conflict reports by Chinese media has become the focus of this paper.In April 2021,the Biden administration of the United States announced the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan,which opened the prelude to the change in Afghanistan.The change in Afghanistan has also become the most eye-catching topic in the international conflict in 2021,attracting the attention of the global media.The paper uses the Global Times report on the changing situation in Afghanistan as a sample,adopts a combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods,and analyzes the news sources,media sources,number of reports,and coverage of the sample from three levels of reporting materials,significance and construction.,report genre,report subject and report object and other categories of statistical analysis.The study found that the Global Times reported more news sources and less reprints,and media sources cited too many Western media,showing the characteristics of relying on Western sources and insufficient ability to design topics;on the level of significance,the overall number of reports It first increased and then decreased,the coverage of the report was widely distributed,the focus was obvious,the reporting style was rich and the comments were prominent,showing the characteristics of a prominent topic attention cycle and commentary interviews to guide public opinion;at the construction level,the theme of the report focused on the progress of changes,and the focus of the report object was in the United States.It shows the characteristics of taking into account the individual's fate and the tendency to clearly reflect the national position.Secondly,it analyzes the news frame of the Global Times sample of the changing situation in Afghanistan.The study finds that the conflict frame is dominant,the responsibility attribution frame,the major power relationship frame and the humanistic care frame are equally important,and the economic influence frame is insufficient.Finally,based on the above analysis results,this article attempts to put forward three points of consideration on how to do a good job in reporting on international conflicts b y Global Times: attaching importance to the construction of information sources,improvin g the quality of content,and balancing attention to the main body.Three revelations base d on objective truth,national interests as the core,and news domestication as the means.
