The Use Of Mobile Short Video By Rural Remaining Wives And Its Influence

For a long time,rural remaining wives,as "aphasia" in the mainstream context,always passively bear the sympathetic gaze of others.Nowadays,mobile short videos are gradually embedded in the daily lives of remaining wives,providing technical support and an online stage for their self-exhibition.While the remaining wives use short mobile videos to record the pictures of rural life,they are also receiving a new round of presentations of urban modern content,reshaping their personal roles and reconciling self-awareness in the interaction of urban and rural information.In this research,L village in Hunan Province is selected as the field point.L village is a poor village in the mountainous area on the western edge of Hunan.The living environment and customs are quite different from those of the city.It can be used as a microcosm of China's rural areas.At the same time,mobile short videos are among the remaining wives in the village.The utilization rate of mobile short videos among the remaining wives in this village is relatively high,and there are many we-medias about three issues of agriculture,the countryside and farmers.After a month of field investigation,using literature analysis,participatory observation and semi-structured interviews,with the assistance of questionnaires,the research deeply explores the use of mobile short videos by remaining wives in L village,and its influence on their personal views,private lives and public lives.The research finds that the use of mobile short videos by remaining wives in L village presents ritual and instrumental tendencies,and they prefer to watch entertainment and practical short videos.Video releases are mainly based on daily life.Their use of mobile short video are mostly based on motivations such as entertaining,recording life,showing themselves,learning skills,getting talks,and earning income.Besides,capital discipline does not play a significant role in stimulating behavior of using mobile short video.In addition,in terms of personal concepts,rural remaining wives actively use short mobile videos to build personal roles apart from those according to social expectations,and strengthen their identity through urban homesickness during online interactions;in private life,short mobile video play a role in promoting the relationship between husband and wife and it has limited dual impact.For one hand,empathy and alternative compensation have "greened" the emotional desert of remaining wives,but the intensified lack of communication and enlarged psychological gap have also led to the "desertification" of emotional desert.In addition,the use of mobile short videos polarized the original relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law.In public life,mobile short videos have extended the radius of interpersonal communication of remaining wives,forming an interpersonal interaction network that connects them with not kinship and geographical relationship but interest relationship.At the same time,by building a broader online stage,they will promote more extensive participation of remaining wives in public recreational activities.
