In 1983,the first group of "coal boss" came into being under the strong promotion of national policy and market economy.This group of special private entrepreneurs are often labeled as "upstarts" in the era of extensive and single development of coal industry.In the era of traditional media,paper media is an important window for people to understand information.The overall image constructed by paper media influences the audience's cognition of the social reality.People's Daily's report on "coal boss" has never stopped since the birth of "coal boss",which has well witnessed the birth,development and marginalization of "coal boss".As an information transmitter,it selects and highlights information through the news framework,and affects the audience's cognition of the media image of "coal boss".The research mainly discusses four aspects: first,how does people's Daily "construct" and "describe" coal boss;second,what framework does people's daily use when reporting "coal boss" related issues?Whether there are differences in the framework of each time period;third,whether the media image of "coal boss" has changed in the 38 years of reports,and what characteristics it presents;fourth,the dialectical relationship between media reporting practice and social change.This paper takes 466 reports about "coal boss" in people's daily from 1983 to 2020 as the research sample,and uses Zang Guoren's three-tier framework theory to analyze the strategies adopted by people's daily to construct the image of "coal boss".Combined with the "five general frameworks" put forward by thurmantke and wokenberg,and according to the report theme,news facts,high-frequency words and report tone,the news report framework of "coal boss" can be divided into the following categories: political influence framework,conflict framework,responsibility attribution framework,countermeasure framework,publicity mobilization framework and fact framework.Through the quantitative analysis,it is found that there are differences in the dominant framework in different time periods,which are embodied in the following aspects: the framework of propaganda mobilization and political influence from 1983 to 2001;the framework of conflict and responsibility attribution from 2002 to 2011;and the framework of countermeasures from 2012 to 2020.News frame is the basis of media image construction,and the change of frame affects the presentation of image.According to the framework analysis,the media image of "coal boss" can be divided into three periods: 1983-2001,a typical case of leading people to become rich and start businesses;2002-2011,a negative image of collusion between government and business;2012-2010,a diversified image,but a positive image.It is found that the media image of "coal boss" in people's daily presents the stage characteristics of "white","black" and "white",and in the process of image construction,there are some problems,such as paying more attention to publicity than communication,reporting topics are not comprehensive enough,label communication,lack of subjectivity and so on.Finally,the paper studies the reporting framework of "coal boss" and the formation mechanism of image change,and investigates the reasons of "change" in all aspects in combination with the social environment,media attributes and the real changes of news objects in different periods of time.It shows that news production is not simply determined by individuals or by chance,but also influenced by various factors,such as system,cultural environment,object,media organization,etc.Therefore,the media image of "coal boss" is also affected by various factors,showing a diversified trend.
