| As an important branch of American TV series,sitcom has a high popularity and a wide range of audience base in the world.This paper takes the famous sitcom Friends as the research object,and analyzes the female images of the whole ten seasons by means of text analysis,case study and literature research.Through the analysis of the female image in the play,the paper summarizes the characteristics of female image in the book of Friends and the background and reasons for its construction.It discusses the cultural connotation of the construction of female image in the Friends,and tries to explore the cultural phenomenon,cultural significance hidden behind the play and its reference significance for the development of Chinese sitcom.Women’s issues are the focus of the research on communication and sociology in recent years.The female image presented by mass media is the focus of scholars.The female role in film and television works is the main body of the study,which is in line with the rising feminism tide all over the world.The shaping and presentation of female image not only represents the intention of the creation team and the mass media,but also represents the mainstream values and ideology of a society.This paper analyzes and interprets the female images in the American sitcom Friends,which helps women to construct their self-consciousness and has a positive effect on the communication of “her culture”.However,as a popular cultural commodity,sitcom still cannot get rid of the influence of mainstream ideology in American society.Although the presentation of female image reflects the current social culture and value orientation,it also avoids some social reality problems.This paper consists of six chapters.The first chapter introduces the research background,research significance,research questions and research ideas of this paper,and summarizes the research on American film and television series,sitcoms and women images.The second chapter introduces the development of American sitcoms,combs the female images in American sitcoms and their feminist expressions,and introduces the American sitcom Friends.The third chapter combs and analyzes the female images in Friends and summarizes the internal characteristics and external presentation of the female images.The fourth chapter analyzes the shaping and presentation of female images in Friends from the perspective of narrative;The fifth chapter explores the background of female image construction in the drama and carries on the relevant cultural interpretation.The sixth chapter reflects on the female image building in Friends and provides the corresponding inspiration and reference for the development of Chinese sitcoms. |
