In recent years,the development of virtual reality(VR)technology has become more mature,and virtual reality news has also developed rapidly.The New York Times has launched the virtual reality news client NYT VR,and traditional media such as The Washington Post,BBC,ABC and CNN have vigorously developed virtual reality news.Domestic media have also tried,and VR live broadcast was first launched in CCTV Spring Festival Evening in 2021.As a new media,virtual reality news still has some shortcomings at the narrative level,which needs to be further improved.Studying its narrative strategy is helpful to explore the future development direction of VR technology in news industry and optimize the narrative method of virtual reality news.At present,the research on the narrative strategy of virtual reality news is mostly analyzed from the macro level,lacking a relatively complete theoretical framework of narratology.Such research is mostly qualitative and subjective.In this study,from the perspective of user experience,which is seldom used in domestic research,content analysis,text analysis,experiment and in-depth interview are used to combine qualitative and quantitative methods to explore the narrative strategy of virtual reality news more comprehensively.This study combs the development status of virtual reality news from three aspects:communication subject,communication form and communication channel,and finds that the media attributes of virtual reality technology have audience autonomy,experience immersion,content interactivity and content panorama.Compared with traditional news,the narrative strategy of virtual reality news is mainly reflected in three aspects: the differentiation of narrative perspectives of different news subjects,the change of narrator's image and receiving mode,and the breakthrough and reshaping of narrative discourse and pictures.From the perspective of user experience,this study verifies the influence of narrative strategies on user experience,and finds that there are significant differences between physical presence and social presence of virtual reality news under different narrative strategies.Through case analysis and in-depth interview,this paper summarizes the shortcomings of virtual reality news in narrative,and gives some suggestions on optimizing the narrative method of virtual reality news: news producers should adapt to the immersion characteristics of virtual reality technology,pay attention to the theme of war disaster and the theme with humanistic care;Break the "fourth wall" and get more sense of participation by interacting with the audience;Control the narrative rhythm and help the audience integrate into the scene;Set suspense and conflicts properly to enhance news stories;Use a variety of media symbols,highlight the news focus,and ensure the accurate reception of information.Based on the above research,the core narrative logic of virtual reality news is obtained: scene construction integrates reality and aesthetics,human-computer interaction is immersed in news stories,and empathy imagination transforms identity cognition.
