Research On The Presentation Of The Issue Of Child Sexual Abuse On People's Daily Online(2016-2020)

In recent years,the frequent sexual abuse of children has increasingly become the focus of social attention,after the media reports in the community caused widespread controversy.Although media coverage is only the tip of the iceberg in actual cases,the media remains the primary source of public information on child sexual abuse for such highly hidden cases.In this context,the issue of sexual abuse of children in the media has greatly influenced and shaped public perception.What are the characteristics of media coverage of child sexual abuse? Is it an objective and true representation of child sexual abuse? What are the principles and attitudes of the media regarding the coverage of such events? Is worth exploring.Based on the above questions,this study analyzes the reports related to sexual abuse of children on People's Daily Online,examines the issues of sexual abuse of children,such as the presentation characteristics,the frame setting and the image of the subject of the event,and compares the media reality with the objective reality,the optimization suggestions are put forward according to the influence factors of the topic presentation.The study found that the number of reports on sexual abuse of children by People's Daily Online has the characteristics of centralization;that the reporting perspective is both domestic and foreign;that the sources of reports are broad and mainly reprint reports by other mainstream media;the report tends to be neutral,followed by a positive report;the report genre is various,the news and the comment are more;the news source is mainly the government authority source;the report theme is more diverse,the concrete case statement,the law and the policy theme are more.In the analysis of the subject image of the incident,it is found that the victim group is mainly girls,and the proportion of primary and secondary school students who are victimized is higher;the sex offender group is mainly male,the young and middle-aged people account for more,and the occupational distribution of sex offenders is more diverse,the teacher group receives the key “The attention”,sex offenders tend to be people the victims know well.In the frame analysis,it is found that the frame of fact statement is the main frame,the frame of legal system is the second,the frame of child protection,the frame of accountability and advice,the frame of moral judgment are relatively few.In the analysis of the influencing factors of sexual abuse of children,we find that the presentation of sexual abuse of children on People's Daily Online is influenced and restricted by journalists,news sources,internal and external forces of media organizations.Through the analysis of the reports of sexual abuse of children on People's Daily Online,we can conclude that People's Daily Online in sexual abuse of children issues on the positive aspects: the extensive reporting sources can provide the audience with more comprehensive information about child sexual abuse;the international reporting perspective can present the current situation of child sexual abuse on a global scale to the audience;and the reporting tendency is mainly neutral reporting,with positive guidance as a supplement,it can not only present information related to sexual abuse of children in an objective and timely manner,but also actively guide public opinion in the presentation of sexual abuse of children with greater social influence,give full play to the role of the mainstream media guide public opinion.At the same time,we also need to recognize that people's network can be further optimized in the presentation of the issue,in order to better display the issue of child sexual abuse,this study put forward corresponding optimization recommendations: through the establishment of children 's channels,special reports and other ways to increase the number of reports,to change the occasional report,to form a regular concern;to pay attention to the screening of incidents to ensure a comprehensive presentation of the current situation of sexual abuse of children;to increase in-depth reports,to mine in-depth information,and to flexibly use images,videos and other content forms,to avoid simplification;to increase the proportion of information sources of social organizations,experts and event subjects,and to display multi-voices;to increase the coverage of prevention and care subjects,and to strengthen humanistic care.
