Research On Sichuan Provincial Library(1940-1949)

The establishment of the Sichuan Provincial Library in 1940 was a major achievement of the Chinese library industry.It filled the gap that Sichuan did not have a provincial library in the late Republic of China,promoted the cultural development of the southwest region,and To a certain extent,the gap with the library business in the eastern region has been narrowed,promoted the development of social education in Sichuan and provided spiritual food for the people in the rear area.It has an extremely important and far-reaching impact.This paper takes the Sichuan Provincial Library from 1940 to 1949 as the research object,collects and excavates a large number of historical materials of archives and modern newspapers and periodicals,and makes a comprehensive comb and in-depth study of the history of Sichuan Provincial Library in 10 years on the basis of the previous research results.This paper first analyzes the background of the establishment of Sichuan Provincial Library,and holds that the library was set up and developed under the influence of Sichuan's long-standing cultural tradition of book collection,the promotion of modern library movement,and the cultural mission of saving the nation in the war of resistance against Japan and protecting the species and people of education.The Chinese Library Association and local educators in Sichuan played an important role in this process.After that,this paper uses the main space to make a special discussion on the organization setting,official contacts,collection cataloguing,reader service,Library Journal establishment,library science education,funding problems,librarian quality and other aspects of Sichuan Provincial Library,and analyzes the development achievements and constraints of Sichuan Provincial Library in this period.This paper holds that Sichuan Provincial Library has overcome all kinds of difficulties,played an important role in document preservation,Book Social Education,etc.,set a good example for Sichuan county libraries,and constantly striding forward to a real modern public library in all aspects.
