Research On Chinese Provincial Public Library In Late Qing Dynasty And Early Republic Of China

Compared with other libraries in the same region, provincial public libraries usually have the biggest scale, the most collection, the most advanced equipment condition and work level, represent the highest level of library development in this region. In the period of the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China, with the spread of western concept of the library in China, the ruling authorities introduced a series of policies, vigorously promote the booming of the modern public library movement, appeared across the country established a provincial public library. The establishment and development of provincial public libraries during this period, completed the evolvement from the libliotheca to the modern library, laid the foundation of modern library system, promote the spread of Chinese and western cultural communication.
