In recent years,the advancement of artificial intelligence technology will have a significant impact on economic growth and greatly change human production and lifestyle.In the wave of the new industrial revolution,the intelligent industry will become a new engine of economic development and an important starting point for promoting the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries.At present,China urgently needs new artificial intelligence technologies to promote China's industrial transformation and productivity improvement.As we all know,artificial intelligence in the world today,as one of the core technologies of the new industrial revolution,can bring huge economic and social benefits.It will further accelerate technological progress and thus increase productivity.It is of great practical significance to study the role of artificial intelligence development in promoting the total factor productivity of our industry and explore how to use the opportunity of artificial intelligence development to help upgrade China's manufacturing industry.This article mainly studies the effect of artificial intelligence on manufacturing upgrading.It is mainly carried out from the following aspects: The first is to elaborate the internal mechanism of artificial intelligence to promote the upgrading of manufacturing industry by promoting the increase of total factor productivity,the increase of the share of output value and the promotion of the improvement of labor productivity;The development level of artificial intelligence has been measured and evaluated;the third is based on the panel data of 30 provinces(cities)in China from 2008 to 2017,and empirically tested the quantitative impact of artificial intelligence on the upgrading of manufacturing industries.The research results show that as an important resource input element,the development level of artificial intelligence can promote the improvement of the total factor productivity of China's manufacturing industry to a certain extent.And the level of artificial intelligence development is between 4-8 levels,and the level of artificial intelligence development has the greatest role in promoting the total factor productivity of China's manufacturing industry;from a nationwide perspective,artificial intelligence can pass technological progress,technical efficiency and Scale efficiency to promote the increase of total factor productivity in manufacturing;further divide manufacturing into high-end manufacturing,mid-end manufacturing and low-end manufacturing.Artificial intelligence can significantly improve the efficiency of high-end manufacturing and low-end manufacturing,but The impact on the efficiency of mid-end manufacturing shows a significant negative effect,that is,there may be a "mid-end technology trap." Finally,based on the relevant research conclusions,this article draws the following policy recommendations: first,we must increase support for core technologies,support leading companies and colleges and universities to carry out technical research and transformation of results in this regard;second,we must strengthen Accumulate and reserve high-quality talents,optimize the investment structure of human capital,and promote long-term economic growth;third,encourage manufacturing companies to use comprehensive advantages to implement reverse integration,enhance R & D capabilities in core technologies and key technology areas,and promote manufacturing Upgrade;Fourth,give full play to the "dry middle school" effect in the mid-end manufacturing industry and increase human capital in the mid-end manufacturing industry;Fifth,optimize the innovation mechanism in the mid-end manufacturing industry and cross the "mid-end technology trap" to promote the mid-end manufacturing industry Manufacturing upgrade.
