With the increasingly widespread application of 5G communications,artificial intelligence,cloud big data,and the Internet of Things,massive amounts of data need to be transmitted at all times,and stable and high-speed signal transmission is essential.Signal integrity is the key technology to ensure the stability and reliability of high-speed transmission systems.High-speed connectors are indispensable components in signal transmission systems.In the development direction of high-speed,miniaturization,and high-density,signal integrity analysis of high-speed connectors has become a current research hotspot.This paper takes a high-speed circular connector as the research object.Through the combination of theoretical analysis,simulation,testing,and optimization,the signal integrity index is researched to make the connector meet the differential transmission rate of 10Gbps and the TDR characteristic impedance is 100±10Ω,the insertion loss is greater than-1dB,the return loss is less than-10dB,the near/far end crosstalk is less than-30dB,and the eye opening is larger than the requirements of the template.First,the three-dimensional electromagnetic simulation of the connector was performed under the CST STUDIO software to obtain the insertion loss,return loss,near-end crosstalk,far-end crosstalk,and S-parameter files of the connector.The circuit model of the connector built in the ADS part was simulated to obtain the TDR characteristic impedance and eye diagram.Confirm that the indicators meet the design requirements.Next,in the vector network analyzer E5071C,the effect of the test fixture is removed by TRL calibration,and the signal integrity index of the connector is tested.During the test,this topic uses Python language and Pyvisa library to write an automatic data saving program to improve the test efficiency.Finally,compare the simulation results with the test results to find out the parameters that are different.The possible causes of the differences are analyzed.By establishing simulation models of many different factors combined with physical test results and using insertion loss as the main reference index,the causes of S-parameter fluctuations in high-speed connector tests are analyzed and suggestions for improvement are proposed.In the comparison of the test and simulation results,the S parameter of the connector fluctuates greatly from 4GHz to 5GHz,and the insertion loss curve is the most obvious.The main influencing factors of the fluctuation caused by simulation are caused by the crosstalk caused by the stacking of the solder in the interlayer solder joints.Two methods to control the soldering height and fill the sealant are used to improve the S-parameter fluctuation.This paper uses the combination of CST STUDIO and ADS software for the first time,and fully utilizes the advantages of CST software’s small consumption of computing resources,the length of computing time,and the more flexible characteristics of ADS software’s impedance and eye diagram simulation.Integrity indicators are simulated.Borrowed from the test methods of coaxial and backplane connectors,this topic creatively designed a signal integrity test method for special interface connectors,designed test fixtures and TRL calibration parts for connector testing,and analyzed by vector network The instrument tests the signal integrity of the connector.In addition,this paper also designed a vector network analyzer’s auxiliary test program,using Python language and Pyvisa library to automatically mark and save test data,greatly improving test efficiency.Finally,the main reasons for the large differences between the simulation and test results are analyzed,and the main reasons for the S-parameter fluctuation are determined through simulation,and ideas for improvement and optimization are proposed.This topic systematically introduces the research process of a circular high-speed connector.The research experience and methods provide reference materials for later researchers,which is of great significance to the independent development of high-speed connectors in China in the future.
