Analysis Of Mobilization Mechanism Of Owners' Rights Protection In WeChat Community

The reform of China's housing system has spawned a new class that has been given a new identity as “city owners”.With the acceleration of social transformation and the superposition of various social contradictions,this growing group is confronting with the problem of infringement of rights,so they join forces to protest and safeguard rights frequently.Effective organization and mobilization are indispensable for the occurrence of rights protection actions.To some extent,it alleviates the predicament of shortage of resources for traditional organizations to mobilize.With this expectation,this paper,with the help of the daily political perspective and practical discourse analysis theory,explores the rights defense discourse expression and mobilization mechanism of this community in the new media field of We Chat group.Owners' rights protection community in a third-tier city in western China was selected as a case study.In We Chat,a semi-closed communication space,how the owner's rights protection agendas are produced and operated,what role activists play in them,what factors affect the owner's rights protection discourse,and what position We Chat group is in the owner's rights protection mobilization.The study finds that,as an easy-to-use tool resource,We Chat has been running through the owner's rights protection movement,and is not a staged debut.We Chat field is filled with a large number of discourse texts due to its synchronic and diachronic characteristics,and in the long-term and frequent online discussion,the antagonistic rumors from the real space are dispelled.The owners realized the importance of action and formed a consensus on safeguarding their rights.Meanwhile,the dominant topic in We Chat group also changed from "management" to "safeguarding their rights".Such changes are not only the result of the strategic discourse production of activists,but also forced by the structural factors of reality.In the form of rights protection,it is mainly based on daily resistance and emotional catharsis.Legal litigation is the "last weapon" for owners to protect their rights.In terms of organization and mobilization,We Chat group,as a platform for information transmission and emotional communication among owners,is easy to form emotional connection and psychological identity online,but the formation of solid rights protection alliance also depends on the drive of interests and the reinforcement of offline actions.
