After the founding of New China, China has im plemented the policy of religious freedom, regulating that temples can conduct independent religious activities, but the relevant laws and regulations failed to follow-up in time, legal loopholes and lack of temple’s legal person status provided an opportunity for people who want to seize monasteries to collect money.Since 2013, Buddhist rights safeguarding events happened one after another across the country, so that Buddhism rights came into public view. Among 2013 – 2014 Buddhist rights safeguarding events, This paper selected the “Jizu Mountain rights protection event” achieved "phased" victory as the research object, adopted content analysis, in-depth interviews and other research methods, to conducted in-depth investigation of the event with crossed v ision of religious studies, sociology and journalism. First, the report focuses on the social hot spot "Jizu Mountain Buddhist rights protection", analyzes the influence of its policy implications, government action, religious behavior, business developmen t, media report, lay Buddhist law enforcement, academic discussion and other factors to the formation, development, outcome and other aspects of a social event, to show the Buddhism so-called "synergy of conditions" strength reflected in at the level of so cial event, expect to present explanatory power of Buddhist theory to social reality. Secondly, for "media image-building", by means of facts contrast, the report conducted in-depth analysis, showed its role in society, implemented critical research on the media acting style and code of conduct. Third, in a particular event, based on Buddhist groups’ study style, conducted analysis and rendering of practice path selection, behavior selection, social image selection, social function selection, etc. for their adaptation to the modern society, with a view to provide a case study for Buddhism modernization.The goal of this report is not only to do fact-reduction of the Jizu Mountain rights protection event, but also conduct all-round thinking of problems of Buddhism modernization- involving government’s religious work positioning, social acceptance and recognition of religious, religious path selection and many other aspects.
