The Improvement And Application Of Software Quality Metrics Based On GQIM Model In Company A

With the growing popularity and application in industry and daily life,computer software is playing a critical role in economy development.Therefore,the quality of computer software has become the major concern of our society.Both domestic and international software companies and organizations have invested a lot to study how to improve software quality,and some more mature software quality management models and methodologies,such as CMMI(Capability Maturity Model Integration),are proposed and applied to practice.The use of these models and methodologies must match the current situation of domestic software companies,in order to form a more effective software quality management system and then be able to guide practices in domestic software companies in a more effective and efficient manner.In the same time,with improving management level in software companies,companies have increasing needs to promote product quality by quantitative management.Therefore,software quality metrics plays a more important role in software development lifecycle.Company A,headquartered in US and branched in Shanghai,is a software development company which provides industry leading software products for process simulation,optimization and management.By taking interviews and other approaches,this thesis investigates the software quality management,especially in the process of quality metrics in company A,in order to find and understand the major issues in existing software quality management system.Based on these findings,solutions are proposed to address these issues,and fulfill the increasing needs of company A in terms of the software quality management.This article investigates the software quality management system in company A,and how it improves quality management level by implementing software quality metrics using GQIM(Goal-Question-Indicator-Metrics)model,which can be a good example of practice for software companies in China.This thesis firstly introduces the background and theoretical knowledge,expounds the background and significance of this research,the method of the research.It describes the definition of various software quality management methodologies and popular quality management models,e.g.CMMI,etc.Secondly,it analyzes the existing software quality management system in company A,and exposes the existing problems in current software quality management system of company A: the software quality management system is not comprehensive enough;the implementation of software quality management system is inadequate;the software quality management system does not match organizational structure,etc.To address these problems,this paper proposes corresponding solutions including:(1)following the GQIM model,set up proper software quality indicators and criteria to improve the quality management system in company A;(2)strengthen the awareness of quality management in project teams,and by defining clear processes,ensure the quality management activities are conducted properly;(3)clearly define roles and responsibilities for project team,and set up a mature organizational infrastructure.Third,this thesis takes a software development project which has two stages as an example.It describes the quality indicators and quality evaluation criteria in this new software quality management system of company A.The new quality management system is proved to be better than ever by customer satisfaction metrics.And finally it provides conclusion and outlook to this analysis,which summarizes the research and investigations,and describes the research process of the deficiencies in this paper,for the subsequent study.
