Control to software quality is important for software development. People pay attention to software metrics that is the crucial technique of control to software quality. Software metrics technique makes huge progress and is one of research topics in software engineering study, because a great lot of manpower and material resources are launched into study and application of software metrics technique. With continuous development of software development theory, object-oriented software development technique has been widely used in practice. It has been one of research topics that how to analyze, evaluate and predict software quality quantificationally. This dissertation summarily introduces background, theory and evaluation of software metrics, analyzes and summarizes difference between structure-oriented software metrics and object-oriented ones, and mainly introduces the part of object-oriented metrics. From the viewpoint of software quality metrics, this dissertation expatiates theory and means of software quality metrics, and mainly introduces three metrics model of software quality—Boehm model,McCall model and ISO9126 model, analyzes question of three metrics models . A model that suits the environment of practices, named PMMSQ, is proposed. It is combined with software development theory and the analysis means from the top down and from the bottom up. It makes up of four layers, such as quality characteristic, child quality characteristic, design attribute and metrics element. Each layer and relation of each layer in PMMSQ model is embodied, through application in object-oriented system. Based on PMMSQ, combined with software management, object-oriented metrics tool is designed. The hardcore technique of tool is storage structure of object characters. This dissertation expatiate entity and relation of each entity in object characters, and established E-R model and physics model. Based on data analysis and evaluation technique, evaluation framework used in object-oriented system, is designed. The framework makes up of two parts, such as semi-manufactured product evaluation and finished product ones. In semi-manufactured product evaluation, single class is evaluated; in finished product ones, wholly system and multi-system are evaluated. Finally, evaluation strategy is brought forward based on evaluation framework.
