Visual information is the main source for human information access.Human's requirement for displaying and viewing is no longer limited to the two-dimensional information,3D display with three-dimensional depth information will bring more enjoyable visual perception.Thus,stereo display is developing rapidly,and has become one of the hottest research topics in display field.Based on this background,this article introduces two schemes about thin directional backlight within the range of active autostereoscopic display,their realization principle,structure composition and optical performance are discussed elaborately here.The main contents of this thesis can be concluded as:1.Backlight system of multi-user flat-panel naked-eye 3D display.The system provides a pair of parallax images time-sequentially,the directional backlight will produce the left or right exit pupils to the designated eye of users according to the location information provided by the real-time multi-user eye tracker.That directional backlight mainly uses reflectors and refraction mirrors to change light's tracing route,so that the thickness of this system can be compressed.The Fresnel lens and the angle extender created based on the principle of telescopic system are applied as the field-split device to form narrow exit pupils,and the exit pupils are produced time-sequentially through controlling the on-off state of LEDs.2.Backlight system of naked-eye stereo viewing window.This system can provide effective 3D visual effect at three different viewing distances,it has the similar realization principle with the head-tracked time-sequential autostereoscopic display system above,while it uses the light guide and the triangle prism to compress the light's width into a relatively narrow range.Meanwhile,by switching Fresnel lens of different focuses,the exit pupils can be produced for different viewing distances.The working principles of this mentioned two systems are described in detail in this thesis,including their optical components.The two systems both are based on the time-multiplexing principle,so that it achieves 3D visual effect with full resolution;Furthermore,human eye tracking device is applied in all the above two systems,the viewer's pupil location is accessed almost in real time,thus the directional backlight can actively produce the exit pupils to the corresponding users' eye location.The systems mentioned in this article all have relatively thin thickness,which provide possibility for them to be portable.
