As a receiver, stereoscopic display monitor plays an important role in the process of passinformation. The scene spatial information is reappeared by the stereoscopic display monitor,the user gets the distribution information about the object by watching display monitor. Thestereoscopic display technology can apply in the field of many kinds, such as military,medical treatment, education and amusement. Different from the conventional naked eyesstereoscopic display monitors with sophistication technology and bad uniformity ofillumination, a new naked eyes stereoscopic display optical system for multi-users wasproposed in the paper. The main works and results are as follows:1. The development of stereoscopic display technology was investigated. The superiorityand defect of each kind of stereoscopic display monitor was analyzed by studying their workprinciple. The advantages of LED compared to traditional backlight CCFL were listed.2. The implementation scheme of new naked eyes stereoscopic display optical systemwas built. A Fresnel lens with short focal length was chosen to focus the rays on theobservers’ eyes and reducing the volume of the system. To obtain a better illuminationuniformity of pictures, freeform lenses were designed in this system according to the LEDs’characteristics of each group and the desired illumination on the LCD.3. Three groups of LED models were built by software Rhinoceros and TracePro. AFresnel lens and three groups of freeform lenses’ solid models were built by softwareRhinoceros with the data of the lens. The results of simulation show that stereoscopic effectcould be received by three users simultaneously on the different places. The luminanceuniformity of LCD was raised to0.7by three groups of freeform lens, which enhance thequality of pictures displayed by LCD and improved stereoscopic effect.The analysis results show that the new system with small thickness and compact structurehas a wide range of applications.
