With the development of social science and technology, the demand for display is no longer limited to the two-dimensional plane, people hope that the monitor can reproduce the spatial three-dimensional scene information. Hence the stereoscopic display came into being and has developed constantly, becoming a hot spot of research in today’s display field.Under these circumstances, we introduce a full resolution field sequential active stereoscopic display without any assistant devices in this paper. It can provide vivid stereoscopic display effect for multi-users. The user’s position information can be obtained and sent to backlight control unit in real time with the help of eye detection device. The light on the surface of the monitor can be brought together to the viewer’s left and right eyes by our designed novel optical imaging system. Backlight array is designed with high brightness LED and can be controlled with high precise column address. The addressable LED array is addressed by viewers’ positions, thus change the direction of lights. In order to achieve good stereoscopic perception, we select a refresh rate of 120Hz Samsung monitor and proposed a new way of field sequential synchronization. Meanwhile, we design a special optics comprised of a Gabor superlens, successfully magnifying the view angle to ±40°.The working principle of the system is described in detail in this thesis, together with the hardware and software design. Special emphasis is given on the optical imaging system including simulation and testing data, system control software and system performance test.Large size, high-resolution, flat-panel and 3D is the development trend of future displays. The system described in this thesis is highly compatible and expansible and will perfectly go with the trend. In the future, we may put the human-computer interaction application into our system, such as Gaze tracking or gesture control and that will truly has great market demand.
