In recent years, wireless sensor network (WSN) has become an active area of research.Nowadays, in the monitoring applications oriented to massive data transmission, the single-radiosensor node and single-channel MAC protocols which are adopted in the WSN monitoring systemscannot solve the key problems of the limited network throughput and difficulty to realize a great dealof data real time transmission. Meanwhile, the solutions of the time synchronization of the monitoringnetwork sampling and the high efficient monitoring data delay transmission are also required beingresearched on. This paper has researched on the solutions to these problems. The main researches inthis paper are as follows:(1) The network structure of multi-channel single-sink is proposed for the WSN monitoringsystem oriented to massive data transmission. The network topology which is adopted in this networkis designed. Based on the topology, the time division data transmission mechanism and multi-channeltime synchronization mechanism are designed.(2) The software and hardware of the multi-channel sink node is designed which is the cure sinkof the monitoring system in this paper. Multiple functional verification tests are implemented. Thereal-time data receiving function from multiple channels of the multi-channel sink node is verified, and the maximum data throughput is determined.(3) The software and hardware of the double-radio relay node is designed. Multiple functionalverification tests are implemented. The function of relaying data integrally is verified. Meanwhile, thedelay time and the effective extension of the communication distance are determined.(4) An experimental platform of WSN structural health monitoring system based on the proposedmulti-channel single-sink network is constructed. The performance of the multi-channel single sinknode WSN real-time monitoring system is verified by constructing an experimental platform whichmonitors the strain of flat structure. The time synchronization mechanism is also verified by anexperiment based on the monitoring system. The experimental results prove that the proposedmulti-channel single-sink network based monitoring system fits for the monitoring applicationoriented to massive data transmission. It also processes good sampling time synchronicity.
