For a long time, vision is the most important way people access to theoutside information, but the traditional visual perception system has a problemthat the view angle is too small to meet the needs of large field. So theOmni-directional vision was born and solved the technical problems, it is using aCCD camera and a reflector to show the whole360degrees range of scenarios ona two-dimensional plane, and after the corresponding processing make theOmni-directiona image is suitable for the human eye observation and computerprocessing.This paper first studied the different types of reflector,then analyzed theOmni-directional image processing algorithms,summarized the problems and theinsufficiency existing in the traditional algorithm. It emphasizes on thesymmetric reuse partition algorithm and the Omni-directiona image enhancementalgorithm. In this paper, the main work is as follows:Firstly, a new symmetric reuse partition algorithm was proposed about theOmni-directiona image. This paper mainly focuses on the problem of thetraditional look-up table method that the requirement of hardware resources isquite high and the image after unfolded is easy to produce the distortion. Usingthe idea of symmetrical reuse panoramic, unfolds a quarter of the annular image,then the remaining three quarters used the mapping method. In addition, the innerring of annular image using bilinear interpolation, the outer ring use nearestneighbor values method.Second, an image enhancement method is proposed based on the color spacetransformation. In this algorithm, the whole image was transformed from RGBmodel space to HIS model space, then use the method to increase the brightnessof the image, last transformed back to RGB model space to get the enhancedimage. Third, the design of image capturing and unfolding system is based onFPGA. The system use Cyclone series EP3C16Q240C8FPGA device. It used4M15C CCD camera to collect Omni-directiona image, and the VGA monitor todisplay the results. The experiment results show that this design can realize theunfolding of2048×2048Omni-directional image and the effect of imageenhancement is good.
