Geometry teaching is both key and difficult in middle school mathematics curriculum.The eighth grade section covers a more comprehensive geometry content and is an important stage of learning geometry content.Therefore,the following questions will be studied:(1)what is the geometric thinking level of mathematics teachers and students in Grade 8?(2)What is the correlation between Grade 8 Mathematics Teachers and students' geometric thinking level?Based on the theory of van Hiele geometric thinking level,using Usiskin's testing tools for geometric thinking level for reference,and combined with the geometric learning requirements of Grade 8,the mathematics teachers and students of Grade 8 in three schools in Urumqi and a middle school in Shanshan County,Turpan were tested(22 teachers and 660 students in total);In order to make up for the deficiency that the test can not fully show the thinking ability of the research object,conduct supplementary interviews(four teachers and four students with different geometric thinking levels),and analyze whether the geometric thinking level of teachers is the key factor affecting the students' geometric thinking level with the help of SPSS 22.0.It is found that:(1)the geometric thinking level of mathematics teachers in Grade 8:among the 22 mathematics teachers,all teachers have passed level 1 and level 2,12 teachers have reached level 3,8 teachers have reached level 4,only 2 teachers have reached the highest level,and the geometric thinking level of mathematics teachers in Grade 8 is still relatively high.Through data analysis,it is concluded that there is no significant difference between the geometric thinking level of teachers in the four middle schools,and the basic situation is the same on the whole.(2)The level of geometric thinking of Grade 8 students:among the 624 valid test papers,16.4%of the students are at level 1;27%of students are at level 2;36.6%of the students are in Level 3,and the students who reach level 3 are the most;14.7%of the students reached level 4;No one can reach level five.And there is a certain gap between the geometric thinking level of the students in four different schools.The geometric thinking level of the students in the urban area exceeds that of the students in the county.(3)Correlation between eighth grade mathematics teachers and students' geometric thinking level:through tests and interviews,it is found that the stronger the teachers' geometric thinking ability is,the stronger the students' geometric thinking ability is,that is,there is a strong correlation between teachers' geometric thinking level and students' geometric thinking level.Based on the above conclusions,some suggestions are put forward.Suggestions for eighth grade mathematics teachers:(1)pay attention to students and carry out targeted teaching;(2)Pay attention to the teaching design of geometry content;(3)Attach importance to the development of theorem teaching;(4)Teachers improve their own geometric thinking quality and cultivate students' geometric thinking ability.Suggestions for eighth grade students:(1)pay attention to the accumulation of basic knowledge;(2)Clearly distinguish between property theorem and judgment theorem;(3)Combined with their own weak points,carry out targeted supplementary review.
