[Objective ] Using Juanbi Decoction+external application of packaged traditional Chinese medicine to treat humeral epicondylitis(Wind-cold blocking collaterals syndrome)orally, patients were observed for elbow pain and functional recovery to evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of this therapy.[Methods ] All the 90 cases selected in this study were patients with external humeral epicondylitis(Wind-cold blocking collaterals syndrome)diagnosed and treated in the Department of Orthopaedics of Changde Hospital affiliated to Hunan University of traditional Chinese Medicine from June2020 to December 2020.they were randomly divided into 3groups,named as control group(n=30)? treatment group 1 and treatment group 2(n=30).The balance test results of the 3group s before treatment were not statistically significant(P>0.05),and were comparable. Both the 3 group s were given basic treatment, that is,to publicize the basic maintenance methods of the elbow joint. The control group was treated with hot compress in addition to the basic treatment, while the treatment group 1 was treated with external application of Juanbi Decoction and external application of packaged traditional Chinese medicine on the basis of the basic treatment. The treatment of the three groups took 14 days as a total course of treatment and the treatment cycle as a total course of treatment;and the clinical effects of the two groups were evaluated after 14 days.By observing the changes of visual pain score and Mayo elbow function score between the three groups before and after treatment, and making statistical analysis with SPSS2 6.0,the clinical effects of the three groups were compared.[Results ]1.Comparison of visual pain score:There was no significant difference in VAS score among the three groups before treatment(P>0.05).2.One week after treatment, the VAS visual pain scores of the three groups were significantly decreased, and there was no significant difference between treatment group 1 and treatment group 2(P>0.05).Compared with the control group, the VAS scores of treatment group 1and treatment group 2 were lower than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).3.After two weeks of treatment, compared with one week of treatment, the VAS scores of the three groups decreased significantly, and there was significant difference between treatment group 1 and treatment group 2(P<0.05).Compared with the control group, the VAS scores of treatment group 1 and treatment group 2 were significantly lower than those of the control group(P<0.05).2.Comparison of Mayo elbow function score: 1.There was no significant difference in the pertreatment elbow function score among the three groups before treatment(P>0.05).2.One week after treatment, the elbow function score s of the three groups were significantly improved, and there was no significant difference between treatment group 1 and treatment group 2(P>0.05).Compared with the control group, the elbow function scores of treatment group 1 and treatment group 2were higher than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).3.After two weeks of treatment, compared with one week of treatment, the elbow function scores of the three groups improved significantly, and there was significant difference between treatment group 1 and treatment group 2(P<0.05).Compared with the control group, the elbow function scores of treatment group 1 and treatment group 2 were significantly higher than those of the control group(P<0.05).3.Overall efficacy:After 14 days of treatment, the patients in the treatment group 1 were cured in two cases(6.67%),markedly effective in eight cases(26.67%),effective in nineteen cases(63.33%),ineffective in one case(3.33%),and the total clinical effective rate was 96.67%.In the treatment group 2,there were no cured patients, markedly effective in three cases(10%),effective in twenty-one cases(70%),ineffective in six cases(20%),and the total effective rate was80%.While in the control group, there were no cured patients, markedly effective in two cases(6.67 %),effective in sixteen cases(53.33 %),ineffective in twelve cases(40%),and the total effective rate was 60%.[Conclusion ]External application of Juanbi Decoction combined with packaged traditional Chinese medicine has a significant effect on the improvement of elbow visual pain score and Mayo elbow function score of humeral epicondylitis(Wind-cold blocking collaterals syndrome),and the long-term effect is significantly better than that of packaged traditional Chinese medicine.
