Objective:Treatment of external humeral epicondylitis by needling meridian sinew nodal points with electro-acupuncture was performed to observe the degree of pain relief and the recovery of the joint activity, and to explore the possible mechanism so as to provide a more effective treatment for the clinic.Methods:60 patients with external humeral epicondylitis were randomly divided into treatment group and the control group according to the random digits table,30 cases in each group. The treatment group was intervened by electroacupuncturing meridian sinew nodal points, while the control group was only treated by electroacupuncturing conventional acupoints. The score of VAS(Visual Analogue Scale)and Mayo elbow performance score evaluating upper limb pain and motor function were compared between the two groups before and after treatment, using Verhaar therapy effect appraisal system of tennis elbow as the standard to evaluate it's clinical efficacy.Results:1.The treatment group's score of VAS and the degree of pain alleviated in upper limb was better than the control group(t=-2.105,P=0.044<0.05)2.The Mayo elbow performance scores after treatment between the two groups were statistically significant(t=3.558,P=0.001<0.05),indicating that the treatment group improved the elbow joint function better than the control group, especially the pain index, motor function, daily life performance, all were P<0.05,and there was no significant difference in treatment stability between the two groups, the therapeutic effect was comparable.3.The total effective rate of electroacupuncturing meridian sinew nodal points group was 93.33%,the significant effective rate was 76.66%,while the total effective rate of the single electroacupuncturing conventional acupoints group was 80%,the significant effective rate was 50%.Conclusion:1.The treatment of needling meridian sinew nodal points with electro-acupuncture can alleviate degree of pain in upper limb and improve elbow's function performance in patients with external humeral epicondylitis, especially the pain index, motor function, daily life performance.2.The treatment of electroacupuncturing meridian sinew nodal points is superior to the single electroacupuncturing conventional acupoints group.
