In recent years,the mental health of middle school students has received increasing attention.Research shows that emotional expression has important practical significance to the mental health of middle school students.This study investigated the current situation of life events,trait hope,mental resilience and emotional expression of middle school students,discussed the influence mechanism of life events,trait hope and mental resilience on emotional expression of middle school students.Another study improved the emotional expression of middle school students through group counseling in the theme of emotional management,which could provide theoretical and practical reference for latter educators to carry out mental health education activities related to emotional expression.Study 1 employed "Adolescence life events Scale"," Simple Traits Hope Inventory","Adolescence Mental Resilience Scale" and "Emotional Expression Scale" to investigate 883 middle school students by questionnaire.Study 2randomly selected 77 students according to random sampling principle and divided them into an experimental group and a control group.The experimental group participated in group counseling on the theme of emotional management,and completed the theme writing of "Mood Diary" once a week.A total of 8weeks of intervention activities were implemented.The students of the control group didn’t receive any intervention.The researcher observed the changes in emotional expression before and after the intervention.The result shows:(1)There are significant differences between middle school students’ life events,trait hope,mental resilience and emotional expression between students of different grades and different native places.(2)Life events are significantly negatively correlated with mental resilience and emotional expression;hope traits are significantly positively correlated with mental resilience;mental resilience is significantly positively correlated with emotional expression.(3)Life events,mental resilience and emotional expression constitute a mediating model.Mental resilience plays a full mediating role between life events and emotional expressions.(4)Through group counseling on the theme of emotional management,the level of emotional expression of the experimental group was significantly improved.Group counseling on the theme of emotional management has a significant effect on the improvement of emotional expression.Conclusion: Emotional expression is affected by internal and external factors.Group counseling on the theme of emotional management is effective and can provide a reference for educational interventions to promote emotional expression of middle school students.
