An Empirical Study On The Impact Of Population Aging On High-quality Economic Development In China

Socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era,and high-quality development has become a distinctive feature of China’s economy.It is clearly pointed out in the work report of the Nineteenth National Congress of the Party that our economy has changed from the stage of high speed growth to the stage of high quality development.How to realize the high quality development of our economy is a hot spot in the academic circles nowadays.The change of population age structure is one of the important factors affecting the high quality development of our economy.The aging of population is generally considered to be mainly due to the change of age structure of the population,which is caused by the decrease of population fertility rate and the prolongation of life cycle.With the deepening of the aging degree of population in China,it is of great practical significance to deeply understand and comprehensively grasp the mechanism and consequences of the impact of population aging on the high quality development of economy.For the rational formulation of population and economic development strategy.The research of this paper first introduces the historical background of China’s economic development and population aging,and then fully explains the research value of this paper.Next,the research of related scholars at home and abroad is deeply studied and combed,and the basic framework and research ideas of the research content are put forward.Then,this paper establishes the related concepts of population aging and its measurement index system,as well as some related basic concepts such as high quality economic development.At the same time,it also introduces a series of related theories,such as life cycle theory,the present situation of population aging in China and the present situation of high quality economic development.Secondly,the evaluation system representing the high quality development level of China’s economy is constructed from five different dimensions: innovation,coordination,green,openness and sharing.The high quality development index of 30 provinces(cities and autonomous regions)in China is calculated by principal component analysis.The results show that the economic development level of 30 provinces(cities and autonomous regions)in China is on the rise as a whole,but in the subregion,the relatively developed eastern region has a higher economic quality development index and is in the leading level in the whole country.Thirdly,using the fixed effect model,this paper empirically analyzes the role of population aging in China’s high-quality economic development.The results show that population aging in China has a significant positive role in promoting high-quality economic development.That is,population aging is conducive to the high-quality development of China’s economy to a certain extent.Finally,according to the results of empirical research,draw conclusions and put forward policy recommendations.One is to give full play to the "talent dividend" brought by the increase of the aging population;the other is to give full play to the "human capital dividend" brought by the increase of the aging population;and the third is to give full play to the "backward" mechanism of the aging population for system reform.
