| Since the beginning of the 21 st century,the state has gradually strengthened the cultivation of students’ quality education.General Secretary Xi Jinping proposed that ideological and political work should run through the whole process of education and teaching at the National College Ideological and Political Conference.English Curriculum Standard for Ordinary Senior High School points out that English curriculum for ordinary senior high school should implement the fundamental task of cultivating people by virtue and promote the development of students’ core literacy in English subject.It is imperative for teachers to shape the outlook on life,world outlook and values for middle school students who are in adolescence.Therefore,it is particularly important to understand the current situation of ideological and political education integration in senior high school English teaching.This study takes senior high school English teachers as the research object,aiming at deeply understanding the current situation of ideological and political integration in English courses and its influencing factors.The main research questions are as follows:(1)What is the current situation of the integration of "Curriculum Ideological and Political Education" into English classroom teaching in senior high schools?(2)What are the influencing factors of the integration of "Curriculum Ideological and Political Education" in senior high school English classroom teaching? With the support of relevant theoretical basis,combine quantitative and qualitative research,the author adopted the research methods of classroom observation,supplemented by questionnaires and interviews,to reserve a total of 55 English teachers in three high schools in Hohhot,X Middle School,Z Middle School and Q Middle School.Through questionnaire,classroom observation and semi-structured interview,mainly to understand the current situation of English teachers’ integration into ideological and political education in classroom teaching in terms of teaching objectives,teaching contents,teaching modes,teaching methods and teaching evaluation,etc.The observed classes involve vocabulary,reading,grammar,writing and exercise classes.In this study,Excel and SPSS26.0 are used to analyze and process the data.The research findings are as follows:(1)The concept of ideological and political teaching in high school English classroom teaching has been applied,but lacks popularization and guidance of relevant policy documents,and has not yet formed a mature ideological and political teaching goal,content,mode,method and evaluation system.(2)English teachers who are party members or expert teachers,and have a master’s degree or headteachers know more about curriculum ideological and political education and will integrate more ideological and political education into classroom teaching,but the most teachers have a low level of understanding of the integration of ideological and political elements into classroom teaching.Some teachers will integrate ideological and political education into classroom teaching,dig out ideological and political elements according to the teaching content and use corresponding teaching methods,which is closely related to personal ideological and political literacy,personality characteristics and teaching attitude.(3)There are many ideological and political teaching in reading class and exercise class.Reading class involves ideological and political elements in introduction,pre-reading,while-reading,post-reading,summary and homework,and exercise class is more reflected in teachers’ words and deeds.Vocabulary,grammar and writing lessons are relatively few in ideological and political teaching,which is mainly reflected in the explanation of example sentences.The ideological and political content integrated into the classroom is mainly about festivals,natural disasters,Chinese and foreign cultures,Chinese and foreign heroes,scientific and technological innovations,etc.The ways of integrating ideological and political education are mainly teaching introduction,group activities and language infiltration.Although a certain amount of ideological and political elements are incorporated into various classes,there are some phenomena,such as uneven distribution,incomplete content,single mode and random time control.(4)The factors influencing the integration of "curriculum ideology and politics" into English teaching in senior high schools are as follows: Self-factors are teachers’ lack of knowledge about ideological and political education,low emphasis on curriculum ideological and political education,and lax thinking.The external factors are that the local education departments,schools and English teaching and research offices have not issued specific programmatic documents as guidance,the popularization of ideological and political education in the curriculum is insufficient,the teaching tasks are heavy,the results are emphasized over the ideological and political education,the examination pressure is high,the learning and communication opportunities are few,and there is a lack of reference materials and implementation cases for ideological and political education.Accordingly,the teaching suggestions put forward by the author are as follows: from the teacher’s side,high school English teachers should improve their ideological and political education ability from two aspects,one is to strengthen the awareness and ability of English curriculum ideological and political construction,the other is to integrate the content of English curriculum ideological and political education into the whole process of classroom teaching.From the aspect of schools,high schools should actively set up English curriculum ideological and political teaching team,regularly carry out English curriculum ideological and political demonstration courses,and establish English curriculum ideological and political supervision group.From the aspect of local education departments,each department should establish and improve the incentive mechanism and evaluation system of English ideological and political education,strengthen the organization and implementation of English curriculum ideological and political education,and promote the indepth understanding of English curriculum ideological and political education.In a certain sense,this study enriches the application of the concept of ideological and political education in curriculum and provides ideas for the development and the improvement of quality of senior high school English curriculum. |
