| Before the negotiations between Yuan Dynasty(Dai’on Yeke Mong Ghoulus)and Goryeo,Goryeo translators had always been a less concerned group in the history of the Korean Peninsula,and they had long held positions such as the end of miscellaneous trades with low status.After the contacts between Yuan Dynasty and Goryeo began,Goryeo translators,as an indispensable language medium for the communication between the two countries,played an important role in the relationship between Yuan dynasty and Goryeo for more than 100 years(1231-1368).The translators’ position and function have also been changed due to the diplomatic needs.This paper is divided into five chapters.The introduction of the first chapter introduces the purpose,significance,research basis,methods and innovations of this article.The second chapter mainly discusses the relationship between Yuan Dynasty and Goryeo during the war and the emergence of Goryeo translators.First,the relationship between the two countries is discussed.After the unification of Mongolia,its external expansion directly led to the war phenomenon in Liaodong region,including the rebellion of Yelu and Puxian Wannu,etc.Yuan Dynasty and Goryeo began to contact,because the war gradually spread to Goryeo,which started the diplomatic relations between the two countries.Secondly,it discusses the emergence of the translators.Because Yuan Dynasty and Goryeo began to contact with each other,as an indispensable language media,the emergency of Goryeo translators was historically inevitable.After the emergence of translators,common language,writing and other issues were also produced and established at this time.Finally,it analyzes the source and characteristics of translators during this period.Because of the war,the refugees,the captives and those who took refuge in the war had become translators catering to the need of diplomacy.The composition of translators was complex during this period,and translators with high level of Mongolian were more likely to be valued.The third chapter analyzes the relationship between Yuan Dynasty and Goryeo and the cultivation of Goryeo translators during the armistice period.The relationship between Yuan Dynasty and Goryeo is discussed firstly.According to the order of historical development,the relationship between Yuan dynasty and Goryeo eased to the process of conquering Japan and the marriage between Yuan dynasty and Goryeo.Secondly,it analyzes the cultivation of Goryeo translators.Because of the change in diplomatic relations between the two countries,Goryeo paid attention to the cultivation of translators.The establishment of translators’ training institutions was no longer an informal temporary institution set up during the Gaozong period,but a long-term specialized training institution set up during the Chungryeol King period.Training methods and selection methods have been standardized.Finally,it analyzes the translators’ functions and features in this period.Because of the interference of Yuan Dynasty and the marriage between the two countries,the translators’ functions and titles have changed,and they were more professionally during this period.The fourth chapter discusses Goryeo translators’ position and influence.Firstly,it discusses the translators’ position.The change of translators’ position can be found from the translator’s activities and the comparison between his profession and official position.The translators’ position reached its peak during this period.Finally,it analyzes the positive or negative influences of Goryeo translators on the diplomacy and translation studies of the two countries.The fifth chapter is the conclusion and brief summary of the discussion in this paper. |
