The Temple Economy In Goryeo Dynasty

As one of the three major religions in the world,Buddhism was originated in the sixth to fifth centuries BC.In the Three Kingdoms period,it was transferred from China to the Korean Peninsula.From the time of the Unified Silla Dynasty,Buddhism was regarded as a state religion.Due to the influence of the Silla worships Buddha,thus most of the Korean kings also supported Buddhism.From the history of Korean,the development of Buddhism reached its peak during the Goryeo period and its influence penetrated into every aspect of the Goryeo society.With the development of Buddhism,not only did the status of the Korean monks continue to rise,but also the monastery as a material carrier of Buddhism gathered a lot of wealth which forming a special economic form in the temple economy.The temple economy also plays an important part in the Korea' s social economy and has a major impact on the country's social,political,and cultural aspects.Therefore,it is imperative to thoroughly study the temple economy of the Goryeo Dynasty,but domestic scholars rarely deal with it.Based on a wide range of historical materials and research results at home and abroad,the author combs the development of Buddhism during the Goryeo period,analyzes its relationship with the temple economy,and focuses on the main components of the temple economy and the development process of the temple economy in the Goryeo Dynasty.The malady and influence of the economic expansion of temples.This paper is divided into three parts:the introduction,the theory and the conclusion.The first part is the introduction.The content includes the purpose and significance of the research in this paper,the domestic and foreign research trends,and describes the research ideas and methods to be used in this paper and their innovative places.The second part is based on the theory and the content is divided into four chapters:The second chapter describes the prosperity of Buddhism in the Goryeo period.This chapter mainly elaborates on the inheritance of the Xinluo's thought of advocating Buddhism,Wang Jian' s "The Ten Commandments" and its Buddhist factors and the status of Goryeo Buddhism.Why is it so advocating Buddhism that it continued to develop Buddhism during the founding of Goryeo to recover and enlighten the people,making Buddhism reach its peak during the Goryeo period.Chapter 3 studies the development process of the monastic economy in the Goryeo Dynasty.This chapter briefly introduces the origins of Buddhism temples and the change of the concept of wealth in Buddhism,and analyzes the contents of temple economy from material,human,and financial aspects.Then from the entire period of the Goryeo Dynasty,the development stage of the monastic economy was divided.Chapter IV discusses the drawbacks and impacts caused by the economic expansion of monasteries.The development of monastic economy made temples gather a lot of wealth,a large number of Buddhist events increased the pressure on the people's lives,the state' s fiscal revenue decreased,and the monks' chariots were disordered,the quality of monks declined,and with the introduction of Neo-Confucianism in the late Goryeo period,the Buddhist theory began.The rise prompted the establishment of Lee's North Korea Buddhist policy of worshipping Confucianism.The fifth chapter analyzes the influence of monastic economy on the society of Goryeo Dynasty.This chapter mainly discusses the influence of monastic economy on the four aspects of politics,economy,culture,and Buddhism in Goryeo Dynasty.Conduct the analysis.The third part is the conclusion,which mainly summarizes and refines the content of the text,draws the main points of this paper,and echoes the research significance in the introduction.
