A Translation Report On The Manager’s Answer Book

This translation report is based on "The Manager’s Answer Book" written by Barbara Mitchell and Cornelia Gamlem,which is introduced by Beijing Standway Books Co.,Ltd.In order to provide the target language readers with a highly acceptable Chinese translation,the translator is mainly guided by Peter Newmark’s communicative translation theory,and analyzes the typical cases in terms of vocabulary,syntax and discourse.For the translation of vocabulary,the translator divides the typical vocabulary encountered in translation into seven categories,and uses the methods of literal translation,free translation,transliteration and so on to ensure the accuracy of the translation.For the translation of imperative sentences in the syntactic level,the tone translation method and the amplification translation method are mainly used to retain the tone in the original text,so that the target language readers can achieve the same reading experience as the source language readers.For the translation of the attributive clauses,the translation strategy of conversion,which mainly includes combination,division and fusion,is used to conform to the language expression habits of the target language.For the translation in the discourse level,the translator focuses on the cohesion and coherence of the text and mainly adopts the strategies of reverse translation and addition or deletion to make the translation more smooth and fluent.At the same time,based on the analysis of typical cases,the translator summarizes the general translation strategies of economic management text to effectively solve the problems of vocabulary vacancies and cultural differences encountered in the translation process.At the same time,the speed and validity of translation are also greatly enhanced by means of modern translation aids such as Google,CNKI,Bing,Trados and other translation software.The research results have certain academic value and industry value for the translation of management texts,and provide rich reference materials for the relevant translation work.At the same time,the usage of modern computer aided tools in this project is also a good reference for MTI students.
