| The original text of this translation practice report is the ninth chapter“Consumerism” from the journalism work The Media Studies Toolkit published by Routledge,which is written by Michael · Z · Newman,a media studies scholar.According to the characteristics of journalism works and informative texts,based on communicative translation theory,these are the methods for this resource text are analysed in two aspects,the translation of words and the translation of sentences.The methods of addition,transliteration,omission and free translation to translate proper nouns are used in the text.For common words in the text,the methods of class shift and meaning extension are adopted.For the translation of passive sentences,it utilizes the method of translating into active sentences,passive sentences and subjectless sentences.For the attributive clauses in the text,the methods of translating adverbial clauses of cause,result and purpose are used.Through this translation practice,it is hoped to improve translating ability and enrich the research results of media studies. |
