In this translation report, the 1st and 2nd Chapters of Disorder:Hard times in the 21st Century were selected as the source text, which contains many typical attributive clauses(ACs).Since it is no easy job to translate ACs,exploring effective translation strategies will facilitate analyzing and understanding the original text, thus benefiting the ensuing translation practice.Under the guidance of communicative translation approach, this report discusses the ways to translate AC with the aim to explore the applicability of communicative translation in handling political and economic texts.Communicative translation approach mainly consists of three principles:receptor-oriented strategy,equivalence-expected effect and information accuracy. The principles of communicative translation can be applied to the translation of informative and vocative texts. Thus,it is beneficial to information transmission in political and economic texts as they are mostly informative.Different types of ACs are classified and analyzed in line with the particular characteristics. The author attempts to adopt communicative translation and substitutes the three strategies to more practical sub-strategies.In this report,it has been found out that communicative translation can improve the naturalness and readability of the target text in view of ACs translation. It is expected that this practice can provide the insight for translators engaged in translating political and economic texts in the future.
