| The Leaders’ Meeting of the Fourth Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership was held via video online on December 15 th,2020,after which the 10 ASEAN countries and 5 Asia-Pacific countries,including China,Japan,South Korea,and Australia,formally signed the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership(RCEP).With the objectives of improving students’ knowledge base of current political issues and helping them master simultaneous interpretation skills,a multi-lingual1 simulated meeting themed the Leaders’ Meeting on the RCEP was held at the College of Foreign Studies of Guangxi Normal University.This practice report aims at analyzing the author’s interpretation performance in the simulated meeting,examing in depth the mistakes,challenges,and coping strategies in his single relay simultaneous interpretation for the simulation.The author’s advance preparation for this practice was not sufficient,resulting in unideal interpreting quality.Besides,the author believes the defects like inaccuracy and dis-fluency in the interpreting were also related to his insufficient proficiency in simultaneous interpretation.Based on an in-depth analysis of the recording,this paper put forward some interpreting strategies which might improve the quality of interpretation in relay simultaneous interpreting,such as anticipation,paraphrasing,and segmentation,etc.The significance of this report lies in two parts: On the one hand,it allows the author to reflect on his shortcomings in the practice and avoid the occurrence of similar problems;On the other hand,it is hoped that this practice report can provide some help and reference for the practice and the research on relay simultaneous interpreting. |
