A Report On The Simulated E-C Simultaneous Interpretation Of “Google I/O Developer Conference 2019”

As science and technology is stepping into people’s life,it also brings some gifts for us,such as mobile phone,computer,television and so on,which are profoundly affecting us.Owing to the development of technology,our daily life has become more wonderful.EST(English for Science and Technology)interpretation rises gradually.Therefore,interpreters need to follow the development and offer high-quality service for science and technology communication between countries.Google I/O Developer Conference 2019 was chosen as the material of this simulated simultaneous interpretation practice.The conference shared Google’s latest scientific and technological achievements and offered an open platform for worldwide developers to communicate.This practice report is based on the simulated simultaneous interpretation.The report firstly analyzes the background,characteristics and purpose of interpretation practice,and then introduces the interpretation guiding theory,Adaptation Theory.Adaptation Theory researches language selection from four aspects: adaptation of contextual relations,adaptation of language structure,dynamics of adaptability and consciousness salience of adaptation process.Under the guidance of Adaptation Theory,the interpreter carries out the simultaneous interpretation practice.At the pre-interpretation preparation stage,the interpreter learns something about the background of Google Developer Conference,technical terms and spokesman introduction.In addition to these,some potential problems are predicted and their solutions are developed.Next is interpretation process and post-interpretation summary and review.Through analyzing some cases,the interpreter demonstrates the feasibility of interpretation guided by Adaptation Theory and reflects the causes of mistranslation and omission.At last,the interpreter makes a conclusion about this practice.This practice not only tests the interpreter’s professional learning standard,but also helps the interpreter truly combine theory with practice.This practice report completely reproduces the interpreting process,summarizes experiences,and provides reference for other trainees in interpreting,which has certain practical significance.
