Nowadays,English is widely used all over the world.It plays an important role in the world.Therefore,in China,more attention is paid to English in high school teaching.Relevant studies show that integrating Chinese culture into English teaching is not only of great significance,but also can promote English learning.According to the current situation,however,we can find the studies mostly concentrate on urban schools,very few in the rural high school.Therefore,this paper focuses on the current situation of integrating Chinese culture into English teaching in senior high school of Siziwang No.1 Middle School.This study is based on The New English Curriculum Standard for high school(2017),which is based on the theory of transfer theory and cross-cultural communication.On the basis of the research status at home and abroad,the study used the methods of questionnaire investigation and interview.Taking 180 high school students and 20 English teachers in Siziwang No.1 Middle School as the research objects,this paper investigates the current situation of integrating Chinese culture into English teaching.The main question of this study is: 1.What is the current situation of integrating Chinese culture in Senior High School English Teaching in rural township school? 2.What attitudes do senior high school students and teachers in the school have towards Chinese culture integration into senior high school English teaching? 3.What are reasons for this current situation? The research using literature research and empirical research(questionnaire and interview),through the analysis of the result of the questionnaires and interviews,gets more information about the current township high school teachers’ and students’ cultural awareness and the current situation and existing problems of Chinese culture integration in English teaching in senior high school,finds out the influencing factors and puts forward some suggestions and countermeasures against this problem.The main findings of this study are as follows: the current situation of integrating Chinese culture in senior high school English teaching in rural school: 1.Most teachers and students have strong cultural awareness,but their English language proficiency is limited,it is difficult to express Chinese culture;2.The phenomenon of "aphasia" of Chinese culture exists in high school English teaching.The content of high school English textbooks mostly involves the cultural knowledge and daily life habits of English-speaking countries,such as history and literature.The relevant materials mostly focus on the customs,values and moral concepts of Western countries,while the content of Chinese culture is less;3.There are few teaching behaviors that integrate Chinese culture into the English teaching of township high schools,and teachers have different understandings about it;The students and the teachers’ attitudes towards integrating Chinese culture into senior high school English teaching in rural school: from the perspective of the attitudes of students and teachers in English teaching in township high schools,most teachers and students have a positive attitude towards integrating Chinese culture into English teaching in high schools.Through this research,the author draws the following teaching inspirations: teachers should improve themselves,find the right ways to introduce Chinese culture in teaching : combine with the curriculum standards and follow the discipline teaching rules and characteristics,respect the growth rules of students,carry out activities in and out of class and consciously help students understand the knowledge of Chinese cultural background and promote students’ learning behavior.Integrate students’ learning needs and expectations in teaching;For students,it is necessary to have a long-term perspective and realize that learning Chinese culture can not only improve their ability to use the language,but also help them have a strong sense of patriotism. |
