| In recent years,in the process of communicating with the world,China has attached greater importance to the dissemination of Chinese culture.At the same time,the status of Chinese culture in English teaching has received widespread attention and discussion.In the newly revised English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition),it is clear that students’ Key Competences should be cultivated during the compulsory education stage,and the cultivation of high school students’ Key Competences in the original High School English Curriculum Standards(2017 Edition)has been advanced to the compulsory education stage.This shows the importance and urgency of promoting Chinese culture.As an important target for cultivating Key Competences,junior high school students have often accumulated a certain amount of commonly used English expressions after more than three years of systematic English course learning,but they have certain difficulties and obstacles in using specialized English knowledge such as expressing Chinese culture in English.Therefore,this paper aims to understand the current situation of Chinese culture in junior high school English teaching,identify existing problems,explore their causes,and propose specific strategies.This study aims to solve three problems:(1)What are the attitudes of teachers and students towards the integration of Chinese culture in junior high school English teaching from the perspective of Key Competences ?(2)How about the integration of Chinese culture in junior high school English teaching from the perspective of Key Competences ?(3)How to better integrate Chinese culture into junior high school English teaching from the perspective of Key Competences ?In order to solve the above research problems,this study adopted methods such as questionnaires,interviews,and classroom observation.Before the implementation of the study,the author randomly selected two parallel classes in a junior high school in Jilin City,with a total of 104 students and all English teachers in the junior high school grade two group as the research subjects.The author conducted a questionnaire survey on 8 teachers and 104 students.The reliability was tested by SPSS 26.0.After testing,both questionnaires have good reliability.For the interview part,the author randomly selected 10 students and all 8 English teachers to conduct one-on-one interviews,and analyzed the interview results.For the classroom observation part,the author randomly selected 8 junior high school English teachers to conduct classroom observation in a total of 16 classes,and analyzed the classroom observation results as a supplement and reference to the questionnaire results.After analyzing the results of questionnaires,interviews and classroom observation,the author draws the conclusion that most teachers and students are interested in Chinese culture in junior high school English teaching,but because of their own quality and other factors,they feel that they have some difficulties in expressing Chinese culture in English;Most teachers and students believe that the relevant part of Chinese cultural knowledge in the English textbooks for junior high school of the People’s Education Edition is still small.In addition,due to the influence of environment and time in the actual teaching,the actual situation of the integration of Chinese culture needs to be improved.Through this study,the author draws the following teaching enlightenment: for teachers,they should not only pay attention to personal quality development,improve their own Chinese cultural reserves,but also pay attention to the subtle input of students’ Chinese cultural knowledge inside and outside the classroom;As for schools,they should develop "Chinese culture in English" as school-based culture and cultivate school characteristics;For the writer of English textbook for junior high school of People’s Education Edition,they should not only increase the proportion of Chinese culture in each module,but also keep pace with the times and enrich the connotation of Chinese cultural knowledge;For the Department of Education,it should "promote learning by examination",meeting the requirements of cultural awareness in the English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022Edition).The paper is divided into five chapters.The first chapter is introduction,which describes the research background,research purpose,research significance and value,and the framework of the paper.The second chapter is literature review,including the definition of relevant concepts such as "Culture","Language",and "Key Competences",as well as the theoretical basis of this study,as well as a review of relevant research at home and abroad.The third chapter is research design,which mainly introduces the research object,research issues,research tools and design,research process,data collection and analysis,etc.The forth chapter is results and analysis,mainly analyzing the results of questionnaires,interviews,and classroom observation.The fifth chapter is the conclusion,which mainly introduces the main findings of this study,teaching suggestions,limitations of the study,and prospects for future research. |
