A Report On E-C Translation Of Economic News Based On The Economist

With the increasingly frequent exchanges in the economic field among countries,translation of foreign economic news can help Chinese readers know the international economic situation.Economic news has both the language characteristics of news texts and the professional characteristics of economic knowledge,so it has a great value of research.Based on the background of the Covid-19 epidemic,the thesis has selected ten international economic news related to the epidemic from The Economist.The topics of these articles are all about the economic situation of various countries affected by the epidemic.This thesis firstly introduces the general process of the translation practice,reviews the research status of news translation at home and abroad,and analyzes the language characteristics of the translated text by using the inductive method.Secondly,on the basis of Newmark’s communicative translation theory,the thesis studies the translation methods and strategies of news translation from the perspective of vocabulary,sentence and discourse by specific examples,and also discusses the difficulties and key points of translation.Through this research,it can be found that: news translation can use communicative translation theory to guide translation practice,and the focus of news translation should be on how to ensure readers in the target language to obtain information in a timely and effective manner.The translator should make the translation clearer and smoother,simpler and more direct.Second,economic news has a large number of economic terms.Translators need to have a certain economic background knowledge as well as a solid language foundation,and strive to switch flexibly between the two languages.
