| As the Internet gathers momentum,people can get the latest information through various channels in time,in which news is the main way of information dissemination.As an indispensable part of news,news comment is so central to the guide of the public to behave appropriately by expressing opinions on social hot news.Therefore,there needs to be more emphasis on accurate translation of news comments.In this translation practice,I chose the COVID-19 related news commentary texts in the Column of "By Invitation" of The Economist magazine for translation as well as The Shift Theory put forward by Catford as the theoretical guidance of the thesis in order to discuss and summarize the practical translation strategies suitable for news commentary articles.Translation shift theory explores the internal relationship between language and translation,which can effectively guide the author to analyze the article from all levels.Based on the characteristics of news comment text,the thesis involves a detailed analysis of the title,vocabulary,sentence and ideology.To be specific,the vocabulary translation includes proper nouns,technical terms,abbreviations as well as words that refer to cultural background,and translation methods for vocabulary must achieve accuracy,consider specific situation,apply speech conversion and Chinese four-character idiom appropriately;The syntactic level involves the processing of sentences with cultural background,compound sentences and parenthesis.Accordingly,translation methods include supplementation and reorganization.The translation of ideology must conform to the fundamental interests of the state.At last,the thesis summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of this translation project,and makes a prospect for the future.Through this translation practice,I hope to enhance her translation skills and summarize the translation methods and strategies of news commentary articles,so as to provide some reference and thinking for future translation practice in this area. |
