Study On The Application Of Crop Straw In Cattle Breeding And Strategies Of Using Crop Straw To Raise Cattle In Shangsi County

Shangsi County is the main corn and sugarcane planting base in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.There is a great number of crop straw in the county.It is the nutritional value of crop straw.As the local farmers have been raising cattle for a long time,the cattle breeding of environment is now friendly.If the crop straw and other side products can be turned into beef cattle feed,and the crops planting is more connected with cattle breeding,it should be helpful to increase agricultural production,raise farmers’ income and promote rural development.The analysis on the status,the usage of main crop straw such as rice,corn and sugarcane and the development of beef cattle breeding in Shangsi County via literature research and field investigation.At the end of 2020,the annual consumption of main crops straw in the county was 178,000 tons,and the feed conversion rate was 18.43%.There was a certain amount of main crops straw in all 8 towns of the county.a workshop was builted for straw collection,storage,processing and consumption.At the end of 2020,there were 11,309 beef cattle farms(farmers)in the county,with 32,400 beef cattle on hand and 11,500 beef cattle on sale.Beef cattle breeding emerged in all towns of this county.At present,the free-range raising mode is the main beef cattle breeding mode in this county.As for straw feeding,farmers in this county usually collect fresh straw in the field to feed beef cattle directly or simply dry the straw and cut it short.A few farmers who have large farms build small silage ponds.Individual butchers slaughter live cattle and bring the fresh meat to the market.That is the industrial chain of beef cattle breeding in this county.There are the several problems in the application of crop straw in cattle breeding in Shangsi County.First,straw is abundant but its conversion rate is low.Second,the way of cattle breeding is not standardized;Third,the industrial structure of beef cattle breeding is unreasonable and the industrial chain is short.Fourth,the service system is not sound.In view of the above issues,the corresponding countermeasures are pointed out in the current paper: Firstly,strengthening the utilization of straw feed and accelerating the development of the feed processing industry by popularizing silage and ammoniation technologies of crop straw and building systems for the collection,storage,transportation and processing of straw.Secondly,developing cooperative organizational cattle raising models by promoting beef cattle production to be more specialized and organized and popularizing standardized feeding methods.Thirdly,developing a circular economy industry by connecting crop straw planting with cattle breeding and building an interactive chain of production,processing and marketing,and broadening the industrial chain by reinforcing beef cattle slaughtering and processing.Fourthly,improving social service system by putting more efforts to promote science and technology,strengthening support for straw cattle breeding,and reinforcing institutional building and market supervision.
