A Research On The Space Type Of Columbarium In Jiangning Agricultural Sub-district,Nanjing

With the development of urban construction in China,land resources are increasingly scarce.As a new type of cremains interment,the columbarium has not been used in China for a long time,but due to its intensive advantages,it may become an important type of cremains interment space in the future.This paper starts from the meaning of the Columbarium,analyzes its prototype and related ideas,analyzes the basic problems and spatial relations in the prototype of the Columbarium on the basis of the commemorative nature of the collection,and then discusses the basic elements and organization methods of the architectural space of the Columbarium.This paper investigates basic issues of columbarium,which elaborates the commemoration and spatial features and functional characteristics of columbarium.Taking the space prototype of the columbarium as the origin point,the discussion combines the vernacular environment and positioning of the worship group.The spatial demands of columbarium are analyzed from both internal and external elements to explain practical factors that local memorial field should focus on during making.Then analytical research regarding spatial types of columbarium architecture is conducted.Several spatial types are summarized from the space models integrating columbarium with Courtyard,Corridor,Platform,and Roof to analyze different methods of commemoration expression in different space types inside and outside the columbarium.The possibility of various multi-model integration is discussed and investigated from diversified perspectives,including environmental response,light,flow line of human traffic,and sightline.
