Research Of Contemporary Columbarium

Funeral building, as a major branch of Chinese traditional building types, has a long history in China. In ancient times, full of power and grandeur of the mausoleum, the Ming Tombs, Beginning-imperial Tombs are consuming a large amount of manpower and materials built, is still left world treasure. In today’s high-speed development of civilization, on the one hand, with improved quality of life and the development of material civilization residents have higher requirements on the "death homes" gradually. On the other hand, the Government is facing shortage of social resources for urgent need for reform of funeral ashes storage building construction. But due to the incorrect concept of funeral and burial, resulting in a lack of standardization of the funeral building design, lack of planning of funeral facilities, the corresponding design personnel lack of professional quality and other issues.Contemporary ashes storage building, not only store the single function of the ashes of the deceased, it as a Chinese traditional funeral culture and Confucianism release carrier of the ideological, under the premise of satisfying the requirements of today’s funeral activities, should be combined to the performance of multi discipline from the perspective of social value, cultural value and environmental value. Ashes storage building as a transitional space from birth to death, is no longer a dark corner daunting in the city, but a space shared memory with the city, to give the dead a peaceful environment, to provide the living a space for meditation and remembrance.This paper is about the design and research of the ashes storage architecture in the funeral building types. The author analyzes the present situation and existing problems in the design of the ashes storage buildings in our country through a large number of on-the-spot investigation and literature investigation of this type of building, and discussed in detail and fully from three aspects of the overall planning and design, architectural design, architectural form of this type of building. This paper concludes some design strategies and design methods about ashes storage building, which can be used as a reference for the actual project design of this type in the future, and provide some theoretical basis for the standardization and rationalization of the design of the ashes storage space in our country. Finally, modern funeral building as part of the memory of the city, themes of death and their cultural features still has potential can not be ignored, I hope this paper can play a valuable role, to attract more workers pay attention to the vulnerable areas.
