Research On The Localized Urban Design Of The Old City Of Historic Towns

As a heritage that is suitable for human settlement,historical cities and towns carry the historical and cultural context of social changes,with profound regional characteristics and distinctive cultural characteristics.However,under the guidance of traditional urban design,universal urban design methods are out of touch with local lifestyles,values and actual needs,and cannot well guide the shaping of the old city space.Problems such as the decline of landscape characteristics,the deconstruction of traditional culture,and the loss of spatial characteristics in historical towns and old towns have become more prominent,and have gradually reduced to a cultural empty shell with external prosperity and withered interior.Therefore,how to grasp the resource endowment of the old city,explore new urban design ideas that meet the development needs of the old city,and create a livable space with local characteristics in the old city has become the focus of attention.Localization is the inevitable direction of urban design development in the new historical period.The study introduced the concept of localized urban design into the study of the old urban area of historical towns.The core content was to interpret the localized urban design and construct the strategic framework for the localized urban design of the old urban area of historical towns,so as to shape the urban space environment in the true local context which meets the local culture,folk customs and living habits.The main content of this study included five parts: theoretical foundation,status quo awareness,theoretical construction,strategic analysis and empirical research.At the theoretical foundation level,domestic and foreign historical urban construction practice cases and typical theories were summarized,and a theoretical foundation for the research of localized urban design was laid.At the cognitive level,the current dilemma and substantial causes of the protection and renewal of historical towns was analyzed in order to find the key points that should be paid attention to the design of the old city.At the theoretical construction level,combined with the development characteristics and limitations of the current urban design,the basic characteristics of localized urban design were interpreted from the research focus,basic principles,and local characteristics,besides,the concept of urban genes to clarify the three local characteristics of nature,humanity,and space in the old towns of historical towns was used to draw the map of local characteristics genes to guide the development of localized urban design strategies Construction.At the strategic analysis level,under the guidance of the three major genes of nature,humanities,and space,three core design methods were proposed respectively: "Natural gene conservation","Humanistic gene inheritance" and "Spatial gene continuity".At empirical research level,a specific localized urban design research was performed based on the example of Huaiyang old city,which is typical and popular.This study can not only provide a reference for urban design like the old city,but also has important significance for exploring realistic and feasible urban design methods with local characteristics.
