The LRT transport in Addis Ababa,in the capital city of Ethiopia,consists of two lines of operation those are EW line and SN lines.This research considers the assessment of the influencing factors.Those are assessing human factor,engineering factor,environmental factor and management factors as the four main factors contributing or determining accidents at AA-LRT transport system.Accidents by human factor dominate the railway accident at AA-LRT system.The first step towards minimizing the causes of those accidents is through understanding and assessing the risk associated with the influencing factors and provide solutions to them.This research also focus on different risk management techniques which involve several activities including hazard identification,risk evaluation,risk assessment,risk treatment and control and explain how it can be systematically applied to AA-LRT system.The second step is to improve safety of rail operation by risk management of accidents at level crossing and stations is considered as a significant guaranty of safe.Accidents at level crossing and stations at AA-LRT is mainly caused by human factor than the other factors.To improve safety performance at this destinations.Railway accidents which are caused by higher number of vehicles,pedestrians and train each day and every day,which can severely affect the efficiency and safety of rail operation.Railway safety will be upgraded by organizing risk management systems for assessing accidents and safety enhancement measure.The main two factors which majorly affect AA-LRT system are human factors and engineering factors.For accident record guard fence damage and signal equipment damages are considered intolerable risks in AA-LRT system and none of the accident record are broadly acceptable risks.Finally this research presents upgrading safety of rail operation of AA-LRT system by risk management of accidents at stations and level crossings.
