With the advantages of large capacity, speed, and safety,high-speed railway has developed rapidly in China. The report of the 19 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China puts forward the power of transportation and the strategy of coordinated regional development. Both place the development of high-speed railway in an important position. The impact of high-speed railway on cities along the line is studied from the perspective of spillover effects in this paper. In the aspect of theoretical analysis, the evolution mechanism of how high-speed railway affects the area to produce positive and negative spillover effects is analyzed. As a fast and efficient transportation method,high-speed railway plays a significant role in promoting regional economic development, and makes economic activities and economic resources in different geographical locations flow and complements each other better. On the one hand, the diffusion forms a "central" balanced development situation, which produces positive spillover effect. On the other hand, the urban development pattern of "core-edge" will be formed, and the polarization effect will be enhanced, and the negative spillover effect will be obvious. In the aspect of empirical research, firstly, the double-difference econometric model and the optimized urban gravity model are used to analyze the influence of Shanghai-Kunming high-speed railway on the economic factors in the central and western regions along the route and the spillover effect of the gravity between the cities along the route from "point" to "axis".Secondly,by introducing relevant indicators and contents of spatial metrology and establishing a spatial spillover effect model, the influence direction and size of regional spillover effect are analyzed from the perspective of geographical space,so as to better show the interaction and interaction relationship within the "plane" of the whole region. The main research conclusions are as follows:(1)the impact of the high-speed railway on the economic factors of the central and western regions along the line is not a single inhibition or promotion, but different results according to the different economic factors. The opening of Shanghai-Kunming high-speed railway has played a greater role in promoting the industrialization of the western region. In particular,Guizhou province can rely on the "dividend" of high-speed railway development, vigorously develop the tertiary industry, and actively adjust the industrial structure based on its own advantages,so as to achieve better results.(2)There is a strong positive linear relationship between the spillover effect caused by gravity and the city’s "quality".Provincial capital cities with higher levels of economic development can benefit from the spillover effect, while small and medium-sized cities such as Shaoyang and Huaihua suffer greater Spillover effect.(3)Spillover effects are related to urban accessibility.Good location conditions are beneficial for large cities, but they will expose small and medium cities to the risk of factor outflows and may be subject to greater negative spillover effects.(4)There is a strong spatial correlation between various economic factors in the areas along the Shanghai-Kunming high-speed railway. With the promotion of economic development and the opening of the high-speed railway, there have been different developments. The cities’ own level of economic development and related policies are the root cause of negative spillover effects in small and medium cities, which is not conducive to the balanced and comprehensive development of the region. To make good use of the development dividends brought by high-speed railway, cities must clarify the development direction and development mode. The regions with higher levels of economic development drive the economic development of surrounding areas, produce positive spillover effects, and reduce the gap between cities’ economic levels.Conducive to the coordinated development of various regions. |
