At present,China has become a big industrial country and the largest manufacturing country.With the development of industry,environmental problems become more and more prominent.Carbon emission is one of the prominent environmental problems.China put forward the goal of carbon emission reduction in the world climate conference.Theory and practice show that technological innovation is an effective means to reduce carbon emissions.At the same time,the industrial industry is developing towards technological innovation and intelligence.Industrial intelligence will become an important factor affecting carbon emissions.In order to explore the impact of industrial intelligence on carbon emissions,in the theoretical level,this paper analyzes the impact mechanism of industrial intelligence on carbon emissions and puts forward theoretical assumptions.At the empirical level,this paper discusses the impact of industrial intelligence on carbon emissions from the industry level and regional level.At the industry level,this paper divides China’s industrial industry into 18 industries,uses the data from2006 to 2016 to explore the impact of industrial intelligence on carbon emissions,and on this basis,explores the industry heterogeneity;at the same time,it discusses the impact mechanism from two aspects of the driving effect and restricting effect of industrial intelligence on carbon emissions.At the regional level,this paper uses the data of 32 OECD countries from 1993 to 2018 to study the nonlinear impact of industrial intelligence on carbon emissions.The results show that,at the industry level,the application of industrial intelligence can significantly improve the total carbon emissions and significantly inhibit the carbon emission intensity.The impact of industrial intelligence on carbon emissions has industry heterogeneity.In both high carbon emission and low carbon emission industries,industrial intelligence can significantly reduce the intensity of carbon emissions.In high carbon emission industries,industrial intelligence can still increase the total amount of carbon emissions.In the industries with high level of industrial intelligence,the promotion degree of industrial intelligence on total carbon emissions and the inhibition effect on carbon emission intensity are more obvious.At the same time,industrial intelligence has driving effect and restricting effect on carbon emissions,and the driving effect is the main one at present.At the regional level,this paper takes the industrial structure and the employed population as the threshold variables.With the adjustment of the industrial structure,that is,the proportion of industry in the national economy is increasing,the impact of industrial intelligence on carbon emissions will increase;With the increase of employment,the impact of industrial intelligence on carbon emissions presents a "V" shape.
