| Rural domestic waste management is an important part of comprehensive improvement of rural living environment. The sorting of domestic waste sources is an effective measure to control rural domestic waste. However, the existing literature mainly focuses on the research of domestic waste sorting and recycling in urban areas, less on the research of domestic waste sorting and recycling in the remote rural areas of Western China. Moreover, the existing literature is more about the unilateral analysis of the intention or behavior of domestic waste sorting and recycling, and there are few empirical studies that combine the intention and behavior of it.In this paper, farmers’ intention and behavior of domestic waste sorting and recycling are integrated into a unified analysis framework. The factors that may affect the consistency of farmers’ intention and behavior of domestic waste sorting and recycling are divided into two aspects: individual psychological factors and external situational factors. This article systematically analyzes the reasons that affect farmers’ consistency of their intention and behavior of domestic waste sorting and recycling, and provides new ideas for studying the conversion of farmers’ waste sorting and recycling intention into actual behavior. This paper intends to supplement the content of domestic waste sorting and recycling in rural areas, and provide some useful suggestions. This study selected Heyang and Chenggu counties in Shaanxi Province for field research, selected 686 sample data of farmers to analyze the intention, behavior, the consistency of intention and recycling, and explored their various influencing factors.Firstly, through descriptive statistical analysis, this paper analyzes and summarizes the current situation of domestic waste sorting and recycling in the study area.Secondly, according to logit model, this paper analyzes the factors influencing domestic waste sorting and recycling intention, behavior and the consistency of intention and behavior;Thirdly,it uses ISM model to establish the hierarchical structure chart of influencing factors of domestic waste sorting intention and behavior consistency, and further analyzes the influencing factors. Finally, based on the empirical results and the actual situation, some useful policy recommendations are made. The main conclusions of this study are as follows:(1)there are inconsistencies between the intention and behavior of farmers’ domestic waste sorting and recycling, and the intention of farmers’ domestic waste sorting and recycling has not been fully transformed into specific actions.(2)Among the individual psychological factors, farmer’s moral responsibility, environmental awareness and environmental attitude have a significant positive impact on farmer’s sorting and recycling intention, behavior, the consistency of it.Subjective norms have a positive impact on farmers’ intention. And perceived behavior control has a positive impact on farmers’ behavior, the consistency of intention and behavior. In the external situation factors, the institutional environment has a positive impact on farmer’s sorting and recycling behavior, the consistency of intention and behavior. And the facility environment has a negative impact on the behavior, the consistency of intention and behavior.Publicity and education only affect the consistency of farmers’ domestic waste sorting and recycling intention and behavior. The difficulty of obtaining information is a factor that significantly positively affects farmers’ waste sorting and recycling intention and behavior.Among the individual and family characteristics of farmers, gender significantly affects the intention of farmers to sort and recycle domestic waste.Health status also has a positive impact on the behavior, the consistency of intention and behavior. The number of households also has a negative impact on the domestic waste sorting and recycling behavior, the consistency of intention and behavior.(3)A chain-like hierarchical relationship is formed between the various influencing factors.Environmental attitudes, institutional environment, and perceived behavior control are superficial direct factors.Facility environment, environmental awareness, health status, habitual enlightenment, and family population are middle-level indirect factors. And moral responsibility and publicity and education are the deep root factors. |
